Crossed fingers...
Hiya people,
Have had my little 2007 Roadster two months and she has had problems since I got her. End of August I drove her round the M25 after collecting her- big grin! That was, until I got off the motorway and realised the indicators had given up on me...
To say I was angry would be an understatement!
So I took her to my local garage (not Chrysler specialists) and they told me it was the hazard switch blowing the circuit fuse. New switch £231.
Drove it home, the indicators, and reverse lights popped again!! Took it back- was told that an Auto mechanic would need to diagnose it. Another £78 and was told it was the reverse switch. Reverse switch was turned off for a week and no indicator failures! Eureka!! Another £66 and I had a new reverse switch. Now, considering that in the first 4 weeks of owning it, the garage had my car for more time than me, I was a bit heartbroken.
Was even more upset when the fault wasn't rectified after all those parts, and money...
Finally took it to a Chrysler specialist- (thought 'they'll know what the problem is!') The diagnostics machine said that there were no faults, and the mechanic thought it had to be a wire rubbing somewhere in the circuit. So he spent a few hours, and £172 of my money playing with a few wires, and changing two light bulbs. Funnily enough, this didn't fix the problem either.
I took it back, extremely upset and was told the mechanic that looked at it had 'left'- I asked why, and got some averted eyes and a mumbled "I think he found another job..."
So the latest employee said he'd take a look at Chrystine (which is what I've named her), and decided that the problem is the relay that controls the reverse/indicator circuit. A new one of these costs £15, but if this doesn't fix the problem, they are going to start thinking about a new PCM for £1300!!!!!
Has anyone else ever had a problem with relays, or problems in general with indicators/ reverse system circuit?
And finally, if you've read this and feel sympathy for poor Chrystine, then please cross your fingers that it's the relay, and not the PCM.... And that the problem gets fixed somehow. At present, she's sat miserable on my driveway because I wont drive her if the indicators won't work.
Sad times.

I realize that it may occur for some other reason but answer this question first, as we have to start somewhere.
Every time the fuse went, it was after activating the turn signals. Initially I could just put a new fuse in, and everything would work again. Then the problem developed into the turn signals working, but the entire circuit would not work when I put the car into reverse. Out of reverse gear- turn signals worked again. Drove it along the motorway and right turn signal happily working, the left would 'struggle' for a bit, and after a couple of seconds, it would come on. I knew it was on it's way out, and by the time I got home it had stopped working altogether. At the time, the right turn signal still worked though! Weird...
And now, doesn't matter how many times I change the fuse, using the turn signal stick blows it again, either left or right.
I'm thinking that the relay is faulty and whereas before a long journey would remelt the solder on the joinings, now it's totally given up on me and just creates a power surge in the circuit and pops the fuse each time. What dya think?

I'm thinking it could be the stick itself. This can probably be tested using the methods outlined in the Service Manual.
How you found the signal problem when reversing I cannot imagine.
Mo, What a kind man you are
and not the first time either.
