Where to service in the South West
Where to service in the South West
Hi all
I live in Bristol and need to get my Crossfire serviced and MOT'd next month. Does anyone have any recommendations of garages to use. I wasn't sure if my local garage would be fine or if I should go to the Mercedes dealers.
Probably sounds like a very naive question but I've never had a really nice car before and I want to look after it.
Any recommendations or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Where to service in the South West
Hi Sharron, sorry I can't help with any local recommendations as I'm not in your neck of the woods, but I can offer some basic advice.
Firstly I personally wouldn't go to a Mercedes dealer despite the car being basically Merc mechanicals, unless you are very wealthy, and going to an MB dealer doesn't neccessarily mean a better job either, just a bigger bill,I've owned a Merc E class and like most owners I used a Mercedes independent specialist instead.
The key thing with the Crossfire is to make sure they use a genuine oil filter and the correct oil, I take mine to a local 'all makes' garage who I know and trust.
I would do a Google search for a Mercedes independent garage nearby and see what comes up, they will have the knowledge to ensure the correct oil is used, and the correct procedures are followed, they will have experience of SLK320's (which is basically what we have)
It isn't a majorly complex car but it isn't one I'd take to a garage without experience of servicing them.
Hope this helps
Edit - just checked on a couple of Mercedes owners forums and www.threepointsltd.co.uk seem to get good feedback

Re: Where to service in the South West
Many thanks for that. I've done a quick search and found 2 or 3 in the area, maybe I'll give threepoints a go.
I had several bad experiences when I had my PT Cruiser from local 'general' garages and even the main Chrysler dealer, so I would much rather take some advice and feel confident that I've had a good job done.
I appreciate your time in replying to my question.

Thank you - I saw Autospec too.
The one closest to me seems to be Mercedes Benz Specialists in Bristol - Parkway Automobile Engineering and they seem to have decent reviews too, so I might give them a call first.
I'll report back with my experience, if anyone's interested.
