Default Speedo not working

Hi Everyone. I bought my 2004 Coupe in August 2017 and it has been a wonderful car. Recently the speedo has stopped working and the usual warning lights are flashing and displaying on the dash. My local garage is having problems sourcing the correct part. It is the speedo drive that attaches to the gearbox that they believe to be the problem. Am I correct that the gearbox is Chrysler, not Merc...and can anyone give me advice where to source a speedo drive.

Regards and thanks

Default Re: Speedo not working

I depends if it is an auto or manual, I believe auto is Mercedes, manual is Chrysler. However there does not seem to be a speed sender on the gearbox, read this from the service manual:
INSTRUMENTS ACTUATED BY THE CAN DATA BUS
² Odometer (1), the input is transmitted by the Controller
Antilock Brake (CAB) and is determined using input
from the four wheel speed sensors.
² Speedometer, the input is transmitted by the Controller
Antilock Brake (CAB) and is determined using input
from the four wheel speed sensors. The individual wheel
speeds are compared and checked for logic. If significant
differences in individual speed signals are recognized,
the speed is determined from the speed of one of the
front wheels. If the speed signals differ significantly, it
may be due to wheel spin, cornering, or a defective
speed sensor. If the computer identifies by means of sensor
comparisons (comparison of each side) that the vehicle
is cornering, the speed is determined from the value
of the front wheel speeds. If the comparisons indicate
one or more different wheel speeds, the vehicle speed is
determined from the highest wheel speed. This also
applies if a fault indication is received instead of a wheel
speed signal. In this case, an error bit is also set. If any
fault indications are received for all wheel speeds, the
speed displayed is 909.
