Question Michelin Pilot Sport tires

A question for those in the know.
On the tire after the size information (255 35 ZR 19) there is a 96Y on the rear tire and a 92Y on the front 18” tire. What does this mean or stand for.

The 92 and 96 refer to the maximum weight load (load index) that the tire can support, and the Y is the speed rating of the tire.

92 = 1,389 lbs
96 = 1,565 lbs
Y = 186 mph

Thank you for this information. I was looking to buy a spare wheel and tire for both the front and rear and saw a tire on eBay for the 19” rear tire but the rating listed in the sellers info shows the load index at 92 (maybe it’s a typo).

Z just means they are rated for a minimum of 149 mph. Because modern sports cars can do that without blinking, the tire manufacturers actually have a W and a Y rating attributed to their sports car tires. Michelin adds a Y (the highest rating) to their tires, meaning they are rated for 186+ mph. This is usually found on tire spec sheets, as the tires usually follow tradition and are just stamped with "ZR" on the sidewall.

The tire for sale is a 92Y not a 96Y. The weight load is less so this would not be a good choice for the rear spare tire?

Is the size 255/35/19? If it is, I think the 92 might be a typo. As far as I know, Michelin doesn't make a 92 load-rating PS2 in that size.

I went to the Michelin website and low and behold they do make a 255 35 ZR 19 92Y tire. As far as I can tell this tire is a front tire for a different car. The person advertising it has posted it on eBay as a Chrysler Crossfire tire but I think it’s for some other make of vehicle. Thanks everyone for their input.

Ah, well there you go then. I'd pass on that tire simply because it doesn't match OEM specs.
