Default Loose TPM at rim

Loose TPM seal at rim on right rear wheel caused a tire loss yesterday. The stem bolt had loosened enough to let air escape between it and the rim. The other three were tight. I could not get to a dealer and do not know if this is warrantable. Car is stock 2005, SRT 6, roadster with 3,000 miles. I bought in June 2007 as the first owner.
Has anyone experienced this problem with TPM sending units? Tech at shop I got it to (12 miles after flat tire) said tightening stem bolt is the fix. Also a new tire since the original tire had one inside wall chewed into 2 pounds of black coffee grounds. The tire could be inflated to operating pressure.
I am new to TPM and now question its value. Tire icon, as well as all the others, are hidden behind the steering wheel rim and are not readily observed. Anyway, it looks like TPM stem bolts must be checked when tire pressure is checked.
CrossfireForum is great and I really like my Crossfire!

Yep, you learned a valuable lesson in routine car maintenance... IMHO, the TPM system is a useless luxury item for those who shouldn't be driving a sports car...
