Question Replacing Tires:

I need to replace my right rear OEM Continental tire due to a nail in the shoulder. According to several sources this means the tire must be replaced.

This tire is on national back order for what is most likely months.

So, now I'm looking at the Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season and the Yokohama ADVAN S.4.

If I get one of these, should I replace one, two or all four tires?
I am on a limited budget, but from what I've read both of these are superior to the Continental. Perhaps I can replace both rears, and then do the fronts in a couple of months?

I do want all season tires as my Xfire is a year round car.

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

Probably should go for both rears if you can, then do the fronts at a later date.

I'd look at the NITTOs. I heard they're under $500 for the set!

There have been so many posts on replacement tires. The 19" wheel does limit tire choices, particularly if you want an all-season tire like the OEM Contis. Some folks have gone to aftermarket 18s all around and put a 245/45 or so on the rear: Better choices of tires available.

Wish all I needed was a summer performance tire so I could go with the Kumhos. I've had good luck with that brand. I for one am overwhelmed/confused by the process.

If you can afford it, I would replace them all even if it's just for the looks. If not, I would do both.

You could also go with Pilot Sport All Seasons. I ran these for the first 25,000 miles an they were great. I only replaced them because I track the car from time to time and wanted wider tires with a softer compound and no all season tread.

Good luck!

I've decided to go with the Nitto Invos all around.
$716 w/shipping from http://www.discounttiredirect.com/

One of the better performing for the price, and they look super cool.

The Invo web site is excellent; check it out:

Just ordered and received Goodyear Eagle F1 All seasons from Tire Rack - haven't installed them yet (on a second set of wheels). I bought them for the Dec-Mar Ohio winters; consequently can't provide a bit of feedback but they were a little cheaper than the Advans alot cheaper than the Michelin all seasons - this probably didn't help a bit...so I'll quit typing now.....

The Eagle F1 All Seasons are now mounted - they look nice - mounting only cost $80 - still not on the car though yet - probably this weekend - this is a pretty worthless post, huh?
