19" Racing Slicks

The big ballon tires run like 8lbs. The only thing that concerns me is you can see that not all the tread is hitting the track. Maybe like an inch on each side doesn't have wear marks. I'll have to flatten them out and see how low they will have to be to hit. My concern is the big tires usually have bead locks on the rims to keep them from spinning and coming off the rim. We don't and I don't want to risk ruining the tire or worst from too low of pressure. So I'm awaiting curiously. If you call again, be sure to let me know.

Steve, what offset are those wheels? They look like VOXX, and I only see a 40mm on discounttiredirect.com.
Sounds like a good setup as long as the offset works. I was thinking about running 18's all around with 245/40 F and 275/35 Falken Azenis RT-615, for better handling/hookup. I have had Azenis on all my cars and I love the way they perform in the curves and straight line. 17x9 with some DRs is def. the way to go for strictly drag racing, can't wait to see what you run. Good luck!

Hey guys here in my part of Indiana all I would look for is the DOT on the side of the tire. So Steve you should be safe. I think the warnings on the tires are more to cover the tire company in case you get caught out in the rain. Or if you run the tire all of the time and wear them out quickly. Heres the law from Indiana:
IC 9-19-18-1
Solid rubber tires
Sec. 1. A solid tire made of rubber on a vehicle must have rubber on the tire's entire traction surface at least one (1) inch thick above the edge of the flange of the entire periphery.
As added by P.L.2-1991, SEC.7.
<A name=IC9-19-18-2>IC 9-19-18-2
Metal tires
Sec. 2. A person may not operate or move on a highway a motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer having a metal tire in contact with the roadway.
As added by P.L.2-1991, SEC.7.
<A name=IC9-19-18-3>IC 9-19-18-3
Protuberances on tires
Sec. 3. (a) Except as provided in subsections (b) through (d), a tire on a vehicle moved on a highway may not have on the tire's periphery a block, stud, flange, cleat, or spike or any other protuberance of any material other than rubber that projects beyond the tread of the traction surface of the tire.
(b) Implements of agriculture may use tires having protuberances that will not injure the highway.
(c) Tire chains of reasonable proportions may be used upon a vehicle when required for safety because of snow, ice, or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to skid.
(d) From October 1 to the following May 1, a vehicle may use tires in which have been inserted ice grips or tire studs of wear-resisting material, installed in a manner that provides resiliency upon contact with the road, with projections that do not exceed three thirty-seconds (3/32) of an inch beyond the tread of the traction surface of the tire, and constructed to prevent any appreciable damage to the road surface.
As added by P.L.2-1991, SEC.7. Amended by P.L.210-2005, SEC.30.
<A name=IC9-19-18-4>IC 9-19-18-4
Special permits
Sec. 4. The Indiana department of transportation and local authorities in their respective jurisdictions may in their discretion issue special permits authorizing the operation upon a highway of:
(1) traction engines;
(2) tractors having movable tracks with transverse corrugations upon the periphery of movable tracks; or
(3) farm tractors or implements of agriculture designed to be operated primarily in a farm field or on farm premises;
the operation of which upon a highway would otherwise be prohibited under this chapter. As added by P.L.2-1991, SEC.7. Amended by P.L.210-2005, SEC.31.
<A name=IC9-19-18-5>IC 9-19-18-5

Sec. 5. (a) This section does not apply to a person who owns or operates a vehicle or combination of vehicles that:
(1) contains parts and accessories; and
(2) is equipped;
as required under regulations of the United States Department of Transportation.
(b) A person who violates this chapter commits a Class C infraction.

Thank's bikecop, I probably wouldn't run them all the time anyway, there would be to much of a chance of having a flat. I was a little conserened about driving 12 to 15 mile's to the track though. The DR's do have a wear bar in the line's so you can tell when it's about time to buy another set

How far are yours brand new away from the wear bar? Mine are almost down to the wear bar now. I probably have 20 passes on mine and about 50 miles of driving back and forth. That's a month and a half of racing. Don't tell me I have to order another set already?

Here is a few more pic's of how the offsets measured, the first is the OEM - 2nd is the Voxx/40mm offset and the third is the 35mm stern. And one more pic from the rear.
a little late now, but Nitto makes the NT-01 race tire. Supposed to be very sticky, 100 treadware and fairly cheap. I might have to let my infatuation with Azenis go, and to try them, suppose to not get greasy from what I have read and are softer.

yeah since you have a second set of wheels you made the right choice for sure. I am looking to run the same set 18's all around, on the street, at the auto-x/road course and the strip. The Nitto's seem to be the best for my application. Good luck in April!

40mm offset................I also have a set of OEM S-Class wheels that are 16x 7 1/2 with a 46mm offset and they bolt up with over an inch between the rim and the shock absorber. I don't forsee any issues with these rims and worse case scenario I'll use some spacers.
