I just got my rears (Stock-255/35) swapped out for the (275/30) at Discount Tire (for free),,,,,, great customer satisfaction policy.

Wider, Oh Yes....but you loose a 1/2 inch on overall height. To me this is not very noticeable, because the 255's pulled the side wall in and made the tire look narrow on the rim.

WOW... way better looking and the rim is much better protected.
The side wall stands straight up, like it should.

I will post the pics ASAP.

Thanks for the pics, they do look better! Good choice. Why did you go with the '30' and not '35' or '40' ratio? Just curious before I jump in.

James, I think that the Exclaim UHP dosent come in the 275/35. I think I look them up to see if the 35 was available when this post started.

Hey James...
275/30 was the largest 19" available for the General UHP.
I would have gone for a 275/35 or even a 275/40 if it was available.

I may even add rear wheel spacers to get the tires out closer to the fender lip for a more aggressive looking rear setup.

The fronts look good as they are now.

I now have 1.75 miles (distance from tire store to my home) on my General Exclaim UHPs (stock sizes front and rear). As soon as I have some miles on them I post a report that says something other than I like the way they look...

Scott...

Did you notice the rear tire side wall pulls in from the outside edge of the rim?
This was why I went with the 275/30's.

Well, I had mine for a week now and they have been getting a great deal of work in the rain due to Fay. So far they are really sticking to the road in wet weather. The first test was going right through some standing water at about 50mph. I didn't see the standing water until it was too late because the area was poorly lit but the tires seemed to cut right through the water. I have even tried to fishtail the xf to no avail. Needless to say they stick even better on dry roads. I'll keep updating as time goes by.

So far so good. Great under wet conditions and even better under dry conditions. Also, not noisy at all. Constantly getting compliments on the tread pattern. I guess people really seem to like the pattern.

I like them as well, when launching off the freeway on ramps I have a hard time getting them to break loose.

Here in San Diego we don't get that much rain but over the last couple of weeks we got a little, the problem here isn't allot of water on the roads but just enough to lift the oil and there you have it "slip-slide off the side", we see this all the time. I have had no problem at all with these tiers.

I agree that the tread pattern looks very good.
Nice and aggressive.

Today, on Tire rack, the 275/30/19s are cheaper ($175) than the 255/35/19s ($186)....seems odd??

The specs for those 275/30/19s say they should go on wheels that are 9.5 to 11 inches wide......but the OEM wheels are only 9.0 inches wide....????? Isn't there a chance something nasty could happen while taking a corner/curve at real high speed?????

My mistake.....some of the other brands say 9.5-11.....but the Generals do say 9 = OK.

Hey all. I am now on my second set of UHP's. Currently on a set of 275/30-19's And I have put these through some serious corners with our colorado crossfire group and on my own. I have had no problems with these being "too wide" for the wheels, and they have got some serious sticky sticky traction. They have even gotten me through the last two winters of colorado without any serious heartburn. Great price, great buy. Will keep using them with no questions.

I replaced the first set of exclaims at about 30,000 miles on them. I didnt have to, but it was winter time again, and i figured if I HAD to drive the car, i wanted as much tread as possible
