I got everything installed today and everything worked out really well! I ended up using SRT-6 rotors with MB/Brembo four piston calupers from a CL500. To get the calipers to center perfectly on the rotors, I used four 7/16 flat washers between each caliper and the caliper mount on the spindle. The CL500 caliper is designed for a 330mm rotor but the CL500 uses a rotor with more offset which is why I needed the washers. This would be a great upgrade for anyone with an SRT-6 or SLK32 as all you need is the calipers/pads and some wahswers. There is not a lot of clearance between the wheel and the caliper but there is plenty since all you really need is enough space to slide a business card into. I have about 1/8 inch clearance. not sure if OEM wheels will clear but most likely they will. I would have had even more clearance with C32 rotors and calipers since the bigger the rotor the more cleance you have.

The C32 calipers and rotors are a simple bolt on. Using CL500 calipers bolt on just as easy except you have to shim them with the washers. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Lantana,

It looks great. I hope my install goes as smooth (but I'll probably still have to ask for your help). Now all you need is to get rid of a dozen spokes to show those babies off

Stay safe...

Respectfully,

The rotors are not scored, I coated them with black ceramic which is just wearing off. the had about one mile in the picture. I have another set of wheels picked out which will show them off nicely.

thank you for the additional info about using washers for spacing,

do you think if we went with a 345mm rotor and a c32 or clk500 caliper will we have any issues. i am thinking with pushing out the caliper further you should get some more clearance on the 18" stock rim or most any 18" rim. Also what do you think about having to use the washers if you pick the c32 caliper and 345mm disks.

how is the overall performance what you were expecting or better. any ides you can tell us in terms of percentage how much quicker or responsive it is. what about the additional weight of the caliper and rotors any effect on handling or steering

thanks

Under really hard braking the car seems to stop quicker and harder. I haven't noticed any difference in handling. There isn't much wieght difference. The stock calipers are very heavy and all steel. The Brembos are aluminum with a steel bridge between the two halves.

The C32 set up is straight bolt on and spacing the calipers in or out with washer is not an option since the caliper must be positioned centered over the rotor.

I have not found any MB/Brembo caliper designed specifically for our very shallow SRT-6/SLK32 rotors. The S and CL's have a 330mm rotor but there is much more inward offset. My CL500 calipers came with the OEM drilled CL rotors and they will not fit on a Crossfire, so I bought new rotors meant for a SRT-6/SLK32

If anyone in Dallas wants to come by my house with their stock wheels, I am more than willing to see if they fit over my brakes. I have room to spare with my MB wheels.

My buddy gave me my calipers today, They are from a S600 ( he thinks an 02-03) they are 4 piston brembos , silver painted with the Mercedes benz lettering on the side.. , they require the 345 mm rotor from the c32... I will order them and get my project underway!

The S class calipers will require shimming the caliper out to fit the rotor like I had to do. The easiest way to to do this is go to Lowes and buy their 7/16ths washers that come six to a pack. you will need 16 washer (4 between the caliper and the mount on each of the 4 bolts) What wheels do you have?

can you do us a favor and install the stock rims and see how much clearance you have and if it seems fine.

what type of rotors and what size disk are you going with 330mm-345mm and any type of stainless steel lines.

He mentioned 345mm above. If he enters S600 in the Brembo site that I have supplied, and matches the year, he can see what rotor the calipers are meant for.

Just remember that the washers are flat 7/16's and come six to a pack from Lowes, and you will need to buy three packs of them. The spacing is very critical especially if you want the new pads to slide right in. This washer set up gives perfect side to side spacing. Also remember to install the calipers so that the bleed vlaves are pointed up.

Not a bad deal for front and rear complete set. I hope they end up on a Crossfire.
