will a 285\35\19 fit on a srt6 wheel with no clerance issues

You can might get them to fit but I don't think your tire guy is going to like you very much. You should check with the tire manufacturer for their minimum rim width recomendation.

I would be looking more at a 10 inch width going that wide, at 9 inches you're pulling the beads in about 2 inches! That's a whole bunch with only a 3.4 inch tall side wall. Even if they do get them on I would be concerned with rim damage from the equipment trying to pull the bead over the wheel.

Hello all, well since ya'll are on the subject I have a question of my own. I'm still very shaky on tire and rim fitments but the post to tire-n-rims.com helped. If I get what I was doing, and did it right then for the front will 255 35 18 fit on a 18x9 rim w/ an offset of 37mm fit? And if so then that one should fit the crossfire's front wheel wells with no problems and throw off my speedometer by just a very small ratio?

Assuming the front is right, I couldn't find the stock rear rim size for the crossfire on that site but I believe it's a 19x9 and I just guessed with the offset but I said 37mm like the front. I know the tire is a 255 35 19. So what is the rear rim size and offset?

Thanks in advance for any help I can get understanding this whole thing

Have a look in the thread called 'appreciate your thoughs on new rubber' in this forum ... a pic of successful mounting of 295/30R20 !!

I bet the guy running that machine had his nuts in his throat for a few seconds.

Not the greatest shot, but 295/30-19's none the less, Bridgestone Pole Positions. Picture doesn't do "the look" justice.

I think 255 on the front will give you problems, I haven't heard of anyone else wider than 245, and most are at 235. The front rim is 7.5 inches wide. I'm sure that some one that Auto crosses can chime in here as to how wide the front can go. There really isn't a lot of room there especially if you lower your car.

The rear is 9 inches wide and offset is 22 MM so at 35 they're going to be tucked in without spacers. Hope this helps.

Suggest you go no larger than 235/40R18 on the fronts. Even this tire will rub against the rear-ward fender well, but not excessively, at full turn lock. Any fatter or taller and you'll have a problem. But if you insist, drop the aspect ratio to 35 and never ever make any U-turns.

As for the rears, go as fat and tall as you think your installer is willing to handle ... and watch the pot holes ... but why would any one want to lower the car and get it all gangstered up any way?

I'm not getting all gangstered up I can tell ya'll that for sure. I'm simply trying to ascertain the widest tires I can fit so I can weigh possible performance advantages. I won't lower the car unless I believe it provides a higher advantage than the wider tires, since I do track for lap times.

Anyways, so I think I got it. 235 40 18 on 18x8.5 with an offset of 37 should provide the widest tire with the least change properties, BUT it may rub at the lock-to-lock points and probably will rub when in a tight turn unless I significantly stiffen the suspension.

For the rear if I go to 285 30 19 on 19x10 with the same offset of 22 that will do about the same. Overall effect is a slightly lower top speed because of a slightly smaller diameter tire but I'd have allot more rubber on the pavement at any given time.

That's pretty much the story.

The tire sizes you mention can be mounted on the OEM rims, no problem. The OEM's are 18X7.5 and 19X9, BTW.

Keep in mind that if you change aspect ratio, you should do it on both front AND back, or you'll end up aiming your headlights into the sky. The chubbiest tire combination that should be safely considered for mounting on the OEM rims are: 255/35R18 front and 285/30R19 rear.

Note that BOTH aspect ratios are down one notch, but BOTH tires are darn close to OEM tall. Also note that you WILL experience a little rubbing up front at full turn lock, but it's tire rubber against the flexible plastic wheel well liner; no big deal.

Not too many manufactures offer tires in BOTH sizes, tho.
