Default Brake Review

After a few track days, I found that brakes are the first thing to go, so I beefed them up a bit:

Porterfield R-4s pads all around
Goodridge stainless lines
ATE Blue DOT4 fluid
R1 Concepts drilled and slotted rotors

I noticed better feel, a firmer pedal, and hopefully good fade resistance, I haven't had the chance to give them a good run yet. Still breaking them in. I still had the original fluid in there, after 62,000 miles....ouch.

I made the exact same changes except I'm still using the stock rotors. No problems during or after my track day. In the mornings I have to pay attention during the first few stops because they don't grab like the stock pads. After a few stops they work like factory pads on the street and much better at the track. I keep thinking about a big brake kit. But so far I haven't seen the need. Perhaps after I get stickier tires on the front. What tires are you using on track days?

I have used BFG KDW2's every trip to the track, only for their relatively low price and tread wear. I have a "track set" that I use just for the track. (with gobs of dried melted rubber all over them)

I tried the "low dust" ceramic pads on the track and they weren't that great, so I think I'll like these Porterfields a lot better.
