Default something is staining my new chrome wheels...help!

I just got a new set of 19/20 zenettis from a forum member and I couldn't have been happier. I had them on a week and had no problems at all. The other day I took a short ride down the road to bk and noticed something sticky all over 1 wheel, and when I walked around I noticed it was on all of them. Due to the texture my first thought was bearing grease, but it would be odd to happen on all four at one time. My assumption is maybe brake fluid.?. But whatever it is, it seems to have permanently stained the chrome finish on all 4 wheels....can brake fluid do that? I really am confused by this because it happened simulateously on all 4 corners. Help!

Did you apply anything to your tires such as tire shine?

Either you drove through something acid like or ...

I cannot say but I am not sure how they are staining the chrome. THis should not happen unless your chrome is sub quality.

Guaranteed if you applied too much lubricating oil to your lugs when installing your wheels that could be it. It might have leaked from the lugs onto your wheel. I had a clear / greasy type residue on my wheels shortly after installing new ones.

I used Nevr-Dull and it came off very easily. If it's not still try applying some chrome polish and see if it comes off.

Oil on your lugs?, the rule is NO oil or grease, clean the threads of rust and grime and install without any lubricant at all.

Obviously you've never been in the Navy. The Navy rule is EVERY threaded application MUST have something on it, sealant, lubricant, anti-seize, something!
