'Use Before' date on tires?
'Use Before' date on tires?
Anyone racing around on their 'new' tires had better see this.

Those 'new' tires could be not so new.
Phew who knew that a few were not so new?
I had no clue, how about you?
Seems its true.
Makes me blue.

Re: 'Use Before' date on tires?
There was an earlier thread posted about the build dates on tires that utilized the same ABC video & yes, it's true.
The best bet to avoid cases like this is to buy your tires from reputable firms or firms that are in the business of selling tires.
Never hurts to check your dates though!
The company I work for owns 7 tire & service centers scattered throughout Cent. WI. After I initially saw the earlier post I had a conversation with, at that time, our distribution center manager (we recently sold our Goodyear distribution biz to another firm.) who told me that we move enough tires where this isn't a problem for us. The only tires that we had that could be considered old enough to be hazardous would be some obscure farm tires &, if they sat around long enough, we'd send them back to Goodyear for credit. It's then the manufacturers responsibility to destroy those tires.
Of course, this doesn't always happen with Joe Blow's Discount Tires & Auto Emporium !
Poetry, 180? From this point forward you'll have to post in rhyme only, ya know !

I used a little license in the 'Use Before Date' title, we see it on a lot of items these days.
I see this topic has been raised before, sorry I missed it, but I think that it is worth raising again.

This is fun and important knowledge to have.

Re: 'Use Before' date on tires?
What I was thinking was that my last pickup battery ( and many before), the store punched out the month and date of the sale on the little card on the top of the battery.
I'v never really LOOKED to see the manufacture or charge date -but I see the one in my van was manufactured in 2005 (can't read the month anymore). The "sold punch out date" is FEB 2007. That one sat around for a time. But it came with the truck when we bought it used in late 2007.

I guess you would call that a heavy date, lots of rolling resistance.
