Default Continental Extreme Contact II Tires/ Caution

I was replacing my rear Continental ties last week and was glad I did. While putting on the rear tires I requested that they pull my front wheels and rotate. When they did we found that the inner side walls had cracked. We are not talking the typical dry rot crack, we are talking about six inches on both tires. I had 9/32 of tread and after a few phone calls thet gave me a 50% adjustment. It you are running these tires, please take the time to inspect the inner side walls. 30,000 miles on the fronts coded 0807 with 9/32's left. I got just over 61,000 miles on the rear factory installed tires coded around 3004.

when you live somewhere flat where there are no such things as a curve and tons of stop lights everywhere so you have to drive slow I am sure you can get 50K miles + out of a set of 80 treadwear rated track tires lol so 61k out of a set of all season tires is easy

I've had the DWS tires before - on my Eclipse. And they were a great all-season tire. They had good traction on dry / wet / snow. The deep snow traction could have been better, but then I say that about all all-season tires. I just put a set on my MINI. They are a much softer ride than the run-flats I had before, and that is taking some getting used to, but they do provide good traction in almost all conditions.

I have DWS's on the front of my roadster. So far so good. They handled exceptionally (to my surprise) on the Dragon.

~ i will be replacing the oem run flats on my '09 3 series sport... on my prior '06 330i sport i went from run flats to the yokohama avid h4s and there was a world of diference over the hard run flats. felt like a new car all over again! looking for some added winter traction in ohio.

I told you they would be good after the run at the track

The one thing that I don't like about them compared to run-flats is that I have 16" rims on the MINI, and the difference in sidewall flex between the run flats and the DWS is enormous. But I have tall sidewalls on those (205/50R16). The first hard corner I hit at speed I thought I was going to lose traction. It's definitely a different feel - kinda wobbly. Scared the crap outta me for a minute.

If you're going from run-flats to these, I would recommend a low profile - maybe upsize your rims, if you're in the market for rims.

As for winter traction for Ohio winters: I give them two thumbs up. I drive 27 miles each way to work (Youngstown, OH), and I never let the weather stop me. The DWS only ever let me down in my home town, where they don't plow the side streets. Last winter we had a ton of snow, and their deep snow traction wasn't great. But for an all-season tire, I think it's about as good as you can get without getting knobby pure snow and ice tires.
