H&R Sport Springs or Eibach
The time has come for me to make a decision here. I've read positive posts on both of these spring sets. I am looking for springs that will not make the ride unbearably stiff, will improve road handling, and improve the appearance of the large wheel gap.
What I have read is that the Eibachs are a bit stiffer than the H&R.
However, I have also read that the Eibachs also have a more even stance rather than the rear being higher than the front, graded look that exists on the stock suspension. Visually I think this would be preferable.
On the Tire Rack website, it says that the Eibachs "require the rear bump-stops to be trimmed by 20 mm".
Can anybody confirm these three points? I am leaning toward the H&R at this point. I'd rather not deal with a significantly stiffer ride and trimming the rear bump stops.
Also, it would be helpful to know what camber kits people are using. I am assuming fellow Crossfire owners are doing camber plus alignments.
Thanks a lot!
Steve

the ride will be stiffer no matter the choice. lower the car ride stiffens up. my fix was adj. konis shocks with my b&g springs. helps a great deal with the ride.
camber in the rear is fixed with adj. camber bars. in the front eccentric bolts are used but its the toe that needs the most attn. not the camber.
before dropping a bunch on springs consider the cut srt-6 which many on here have on their car. inexpensive and easy to find

I have the Eibach set and they stiffened it just right. BUT, the total cost was nearly $800. The place that did the install showed me the alignment sheet after the springs were installed and the camber & toe were way off. They had to swap the camber bolts and that added $$$ to the install. Even now, with the new set-up, I get uneven tire wear. The inside of the tires are completely bald, while the outside looks like its got 5,000 miles left. I am now looking to correct this as well.
To reslove the camber problems, most inexpensive solution is called TVT Rear Camber Arms.
Amazing product and def. worth the cash. YOu cant lower your car without them!

If you cant get TVT camber arms..... SpeedyBenz make one that is the same basic design only costs more... they look VERY good too... I have TVT and like them.....
So do I need these for both the front and the rear? It does not look like TVT makes them for a Crossfire, however, they do make them for an SLK55. Maybe this would work?
I've researched a bit and here are the websites;

You will need one set of the eccentric bolts for front camber adjustment that you can purchase with the set of Adjustable Camber Arms. I then went to my local Mercedes dealership and picked up another set of eccentric bolts for the rear to adjust the camber. Even with all the bolts in the front you may still only get close to factory specs. The lower the springs put your car the further away from factory specs you will be even with all these parts. I went with an Eibach set so I could be as close to factory specs as possible. Most of the other spring sets drop the front even lower. I also went with Koni's adjustable shocks. Just my 2 cents!!!
