Default Thinking Forgestars/F14's

That's what I'm thinking! They will make them (almost) any offset I want and I need to know what others have tried. I'm thinking 18x8.5 et 30 with 245/35/18 on the front and 18x10 with 275/35/18 et 25 on the rear. I'll be using my "extra" spacers with my stock wheels as an experiment to identify the offset to get a 245 on the front. In the past I've used 235's on the front with no spacers, 235's with 10 mm spacers so I have a good idea just how much space I have with my lowered car. With stock rims and tires (lowered) 5 mm on the inside and 15 mm on the outside. On the rear???? I ran a 265/35/19 with minor rubbing on the inside of the wheel well from the extra height. I tried a 5mm spacer with the 265's and it rubbed on the big potholes. So I'm thinking I have 8 mm on the outside. On the inside I don't know for sure. Experiences, observations, opinions are welcome.

John (JHM2K) has done quite a bit of research on the F14s. Maybe he will chime in.

It's not so much Forgestars as it is the best offset to get the most rubber possible under the car on a light and strong rim. The Forgestars are cheap for the weight and strength. I want to get a 245 on the front and I think a 30 offset would work. On the rear I know Rudy had a 19x9.5 with a 25mm offset and a 295 on the rear. So I believe a 25 mm offset on a 18x10 will work. The tire sizes I'm thinking are slightly shorter than stock. Part of my thinking is because I'm lowered. A 235/40/18 fit on the stock rims and didn't rub the nut on the inside. Real close. With a 10 mm spacer I had slight rubbing on the outer screws for the fender liner. So 5 mm on the inside and 15 mm on the outside should work. (235 is 10mm wider than a 225) Rims and tires calculator has been a great help. But no matter how much I measure and calculate I'd love to hear from personal experiences how big and what offsets have been tried.

I considered the same setup rim wise...............but was gonna put M/T 305/30 18 drag radials on the rears.

I mostly go around corners so I want the biggest rim size with the smallest recommended tire. I'm getting decent tire wear on the rear but I'm going through front tires every 2 to 3 months! I need a wider rim on the front no matter what tire I put on it. Well, more negative camber too, but I only have limited options, Kmac camber kit, wider rims, custom A arms. And looking to the future, rim sizes that Hoosier has tires for. I need to know folks. Fess up and let me know what has failed and worked.

Indeed I have, sir.

Les, I would agree with your tentative offsets and widths. The 10" rim width in the rear would pose a bigger issue if you were using the 19s, but the 18s won't have that problem. 30mm offset in the front will be perfect.

The other great thing about using all 18s is the WEIGHT SAVINGS... omg. You're going to shed a minimum of 8 pounds from the front, and closer to 12 in the rear... on each corner. 18" Forgestars weigh 17.5 each.

Food for thought -- Forgestar is also just releasing a new super-concave five spoke wheel, very similar to the ADV.1 and Niche concave 5's. It's a sexy rim, and you have the awesome brakes to display. It's more of a "race ready" look than the F14, and the weights are supposedly the same.

The *only* complaint I've heard is regarding the finish... apparently, the matte black wheels have a fairly thin coating, and tiny rock chips will show their face soon. That may have been an early problem though.

From what I've talked to a couple owners it seems as though this issue hasn't been corrected yet, but is only an issue on the matte black F14s. I am a month out from ordering my F14s in titanium, stock rim sizes. I had looked at matte black, but decided against it.

The biggest advantage I saw in the F14s was the weight savings to cost ratio. They do in fact save a good bit of weight in each corner without costing an arm and a leg each.

Not completely sure on the offsets. I know for my stock sizes I was planning on going to go ET25 or ET30 in the front and ET12 or ET17 in the rear. Just to push the wheel out further to make it flush with the fender...without having to use spacers.

I just have to get actual measurements on the offset, but I believe it will work fine since the rears are ET22 stock, and there are many people running 10mm spacers in the rear.

So it's just the matte black ones? Good to know.

Matt, IIRC I don't think they have offsets lower than +25mm in the rear in the 9" and 10" rim widths... So to achieve a +17mm offset overall, you'd still need a 8mm spacer. This may have changed.

A couple of pictures with the information on the wheels. Something I'm still getting my mind around is that I don't know the bore center. (they don't either) They supply a hub ring for Mercedes fitments. Hummm. I've seen them used before but I would prefer not to.
