Default What kind of lug bolt is THIS?

I was, for the first time, washing the Graphite car today. I took the wheel bolt covers off to find a FILTHY MESS and one other thing - every wheel has one of these oddball bolts in it.

What is it? Some kind of antitheft device?

I want them OFF the car ASAP - can we still get lug bolts?

Pizza, Those are locking lug bolts, You will need the coresponding key to get it off easily. I don't know how to get it off without the key easily. Look around in the car everywhere for it. Larry

wheel locks, hopefully the previous owner put the "key" and the old lug nuts somewhere in your car. It should look like a socket, without it getting those locks off will be tough. The only people who can do it with little or no damage is the guy who was going to steal your rims.

If you can't find it hidden in the car or get it from the previous owner, most large tire shops have the various keys. (hopefully)

if you don't find the key,, find a socket that is just slightky too small to fit over it ,,,put the socket on a braker bar( the reason you want the socket on the B B is because you will make the socket loose over the lock tring to put the B B onto the socket ) now HAMMER the socket on to the lock at the same time every time you try to turn it off make sure you hit the end of the breaker bar ... within 4 to 5 hits ,or 20 to 25 hits of the B B it will come loose, then u can replace it wit another lock,,,or a lug bolt. jim

I support the above comments. Take the car to a Discount Tire shop, where they only do tire installs. Pep Boys is another possibility since they handle the McGard product line. They should be able to get the McGard lock off.

Good Luck,

I've actually got the Crossfire version of the locking lug bolts on my coupes wheels. The spare lug bolts & lock socket are in the console.

I had a set of those lugs on a former Camaro with custom wheels. They saved my wheels from getting stolen one night. The thieves took all the lugs but the McGards. I thought I had dropped the transmission when I started to drive unknowing I only had one lug securing each wheel.

Ok, the shop I got my Red car's tires from has the "Key" or socket, so - anyone have four OEM bolts I can have or buy or trade?

Thanks, Dedwards, for post 10 - I'd really like to just get four of the OEM bolts.

For those interested in a source for German-origin lug bolts for the Crossfire, here's a link:

Those have a 23MM shank, which is too short for the Crossfire. I believe the Crossfire OEM length is 40MM. ezaccessory.com usually has the best prices on lug bolts. Here is a link to some that should work. Wheel Adapters|Lug Nuts|Wheel Spacers

No sane person would take the key out of the car.

So this could be a big test for you Mark if you find that key.
