Timing is everything. I'm actually considering replacing my brake setup or I should say an upgrade. Though I don't race it or drive as aggressive as some of you, it is my daily driver, except when snow/ice or severe storms like today, and I just want to make sure they are good.

Yes it is an auto stick I drive as close to a stick as I can and want to minimize dust. Also, I will strongly be considering going to 18"s all around; lowering isn't out of the question other than maybe cost.

So with my NA (special edition w/SRT rims) what do your experts recommend? Thanks in advance.

That is correct for the stock SRT brakes.

You can also run the stock SRT brakes no problem or I would recommend the C32 rotors and MB/Brembo calipers. Paul/Taz with the 55K V8 Crossfire could tell you what size spacer is needed for this set up. I have an extra set of calipers if you want to go this route.

Thanks, I will get with the other Beast owner...and let you know.

BTW - I really hope the two of you and other V8 conversion owners show up to the CAA in the Rockies this year.

I had to use a 10mm spacer on the Aero when I put the C32 rotors & calipers on.....stock SRT wheels...

Thanks Mike for the answer. I forgot you had done this also. I think Taz switched to SRT wheels so he could run a smaller 10mm spacer.

With the Stoptech's and SRT wheels all you need is a 5 mm, but I put a 10 mm because it was hub centric and the 5's were not. Now I'm using different wheels with no spacers. 30mm offset on the front.

Is the SRT setup identicle to the SLK32 setup?

If so, you will need 4 extra bolts, at least I did (I did this upgrade 2 weeks ago). The mounting points on the rear calipers are nearly twice as thick as OEM and your existing bolts will not work, you will need longer ones, but any auto parts store will have them. Also, we had to modify the dust shields in the front because the calipers would not clear with the mounting points. If you are painting the calipers, please use caution. I did mine in a friends paint booth with a thicker paint formulated for calipers, and after 4 coats, the few millimeters of paint that was on the calipers made the clips stick out just enough to where they were 'clicking' on the back of my OEM wheels. The setup is extremely close to the back of the OEM wheel. All is worked out now, but what a pain I made for myself....

Damn are these brakes insane on a limited, I can only imagine what your feel like Lantana

My 2006 LTD Roadster will be using STOCK LTD wheels, 2005 stock SRT6 calipers and rotors with Akebono ceramic pads EUR682 on the front. I'm using the stock LTD calipers and rotors on the rear and just replacing the pads with Abebono ceramic pads (don't remember the number), and stock 2006 LTD wheels on the rear as well.

Sent you a PM.

In the meantime, has anybody used the PowerSlot? I know NeedsWings sells them and they seem very comparable to what TireRack sells them for.

Erzer, if you get Lantana's calipers that fit the SRT rotors... I have a full set of stock SRT rotors in the garage. You can have them if you pay for shipping.... They have about 25k on them.

Looks like you will not need any additional hardware, but you are more than likely going to have to modify (cut or bend) your dust shields, just trying to give you a heads up...

When usiing the the MB/Brembo four piston calipers, I did not have to modify the dust shields at all. It was a very easy swap. As menetioned, I have two sets of extra four piston calipers. One set for the SRT rotors and one set for the C32 rotor.

Seems a bit funny the 4 piston guys would not need any mod and the 2 piston SLK320 do, odd.

The C32 rotors/calipers just bolt right up with no changes...at least on the SRT... stock wheels will require a spacer for clearance as mentioned earlier....

Any idea how much cutting or bending? How thick is the dust shield? Can it be cut with shears or a nibbler, or will I need a plasma cutter? Does anyone have a template of the cut pattern?

With my BBK all I had to do was bend it a little. It's easy to figure out. I think your like me and want all the answers beforehand. Do fret so much, just do it!

Les is right, just do it, the bend is not that severe, as I decided not to cut mine, but you will definitely need to do something. I read everything I could and called several other well seasoned XF pros and asked them and everyone told me the same thing, bolt up no problems, all same hardware, and I ended up having to go to the store for bolts anyway, so just goes to show you, even when you do think you have done all the homework you can - you can still end up with missing info until you get your hands dirty (just make sure the auto parts stores are still open when you start - I almost had a 2 day brake job because of 4 little bolts LOL)

That's exactly what I mean. This will have to be done when I can get parts, not just when I have time to do the job. What size bolts wil I need to buy?

Dave, as discussed earlier, since you are only doing the fronts, you will require no new hardware (sensors, bolts, etc all will swap over) and only a slight modification to the dust shields, a bend works fine and they will bend with your hands under the right pressure (use gloves )

No problems, get to it and let us know how you like the new braking power....
