Missing Locking Nut Saga
Just got the XF home to find the Wheel Lock Nut Missing. Straight on the Phone to the trader who sold the car. "We'll look into it and get back to you. So there I am thinking gonna have to have them surgically removed. I phone the original supplying dealer hoping they have a record of what nuts were fitted ( I know Mercedes do as it was written in the front of my service record.) reply 'Sorry sir we don't keep that information. So I ask what they suggest and if they keep a set of master nuts, reply ' No we just cut them off and sell you another set' How much I ask? reply '£40 +vat to remove about £100+vat to supply new set.
I politely thank them for their help???????
What am I gonna do?
I think phone the local Mercedes Dealership (Milton Keynes), maybe they will be more sympathetic, A guy name Paul answers, I explain my dilema, and his reply ' Bring it over and we will try our master set out for you, if we can find a match then a replacement will be £27 including vat'
Arrive at Merc and Paul greets me, brings out the kit after a quick shufti at the nut, ten minutes later and after trying over half the set, success, Key on order and no damage to my wheels.
Moral of the story "don't believe what dealers tell you" some are just looking for the easiest way to relieve you of your hard earned cash"

Ever see one of those cheap as **** sockets with all the spring loaded pins inside that is supposed to fit any size nut. That's what I used when my lug key went missing and it worked perfectly. I now have two of those crappy pin loaded sockets!

Lock key arrived today and pads were changed to EBC RedStuff within in the Hour. Thanks you MK Mercedes you could quite literally been lifesavers, as less than 2mm left on pads and the sensor was worn to nothing, QUESTION IS HOW COULD IT POSSIBLY HAVE PASSED THE MOT WITH SUCH LITTLE MEAT LEFT ON THEM.
