Default Rear wheel help

This is a simple question, but I can't seem to find the answer in the masses of threads on the site. I am also pressed for time since I already ordered the rims and need to confirm that they will fit. The guy told me they would and then sent me a random email saying they won't so I am highly confused and need help. The front are no problem and are already ordered but the rear that I am looking at are 20" x 8" with a high positive offset. The tire is the same size as stock, but what I am concerned about is if this new rim will fit, he says it won't and I need a medium offset not a wider rim. I have looked at a good amount of literature and it seems like it would fit to me because of the high offset but the skinnier rim could cause a problem so I need help.

not to sure, it doesn't specify online do I'd have to call tomorrow and check, but correct me if I'm wrong, wouldn't going with a medium offset like the salesman told me be worse than a positive because it would leave less room for suspension etc...and when I get the extra rim info I'll post it!! thanks for the help

Since your stock rear wheel has a offset of 22 you will be 18mm/0.7" closer to the rear suspension. You are also 1" taller in overall height....

Try this tool for comparing wheels and tire sizes....

The higher offset will move the wheel more under you car. As MikeR said, your biggest concern will be suspension and brake clearance. This however can be corrected with a spacer; a 10 mm may be enough. (You'll need to get new, longer lug bolts though) As long as you maintain the overall height of the wheel/tire combo, the 20" size won't really matter. (Bigger wheel with a lower aspect ratio tire) Remember, less tire = more road feel. Personally, I don't mind. Some do.
PS: Find a new wheel/tire shop. This kind of situation is rather common.
