Default Crossfire Tires Blow Out

I'm new to the forum and am interested in buying a SRT6 at some point, but until that day comes, I'm content to buy a regular CF....and one has presented itself to me. The owner says he has owned his 2004 CF for six years and he loves it EXCEPT that he has had to replace blown out tires on about 10 occasions....weird! I've never heard of that with any car. He can't seem to explain why, claims he does not abuse the car, but with tires costing $250 a piece, he's finally gotten tired of this problem.

I've never heard of a problem like this....could it be that he has been over-inflating or under-inflating the tires?

Anyone have ideas on this subject.

Thanks,
John

has the car been lowered?? ..... if so he could have very negative camber and wearing out the insides and not paying attention until they blow out.... or he tries to get too many miles out of his tires.......other than that, or he gets tires from a seconds shop???? it dosen't make any sense....

Is the seller a doctor about 70? Good friend of mine had the same problem on his Camry. He kept driving over curb.

If it sounds like BS it probably is..

Guess where I am.

Be very careful. Check for damage. The frame could be bent.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! If I do move forward with this car, I will have my mechanic look it over....particularly the frame. The wheels are this car looked pretty grim, so that leads me to believe that the owner hit way too many curbs... I will advise as things progress. Thanks again!

With low profile tires, correct tire pressure is a must, especially if UNDER inflated.

Under inflated low profiles will heat the sidewalls (relatively) quickly resulting in premature failure.

I had this happen on a Honda S2000, moving at a nice clip, and the failed tire literally came loose and peeled off the rim.

It looked like someone cut the tire off the rim along the sidewall with only the stub left standing.

Also if he has the car sitting with no movement for extended periods, flat spots can develop and lead to premature failure.

All that being said, Crossfires are no better or worse than any other car, when it comes to early tire failure.

It's usually all about regular tire and alignment maintanence...

The tire pressure can change with the weather and time. A low profile like these 3-6 psi is a huge loss. He probably checks the pressure once every two months ( ck every week). Easy and prevents problems like ruined tires and rims.
