255/35/18 on the front!
That's right sports fans! Today I mounted 255/35/18 Hankook RS-3 tires on my Forgestars 18x9 ET 30 and ............ the jury is still out. After mounting the tires I could fit, just, a credit card between the suspension and tire. Drove home swerving and braking hard to test the fit. I didn't hear any rubbing, which means nothing until I pull the wheels tomorrow to check for tell tale signs or lack thereof. Up to now they fit better than 245/35/18's which were rubbing the liner a touch. I'll update this thread as I put the fitment through a torture test.

When I bought my car it had 235 40 18's and when doing hard left and hard right it was rubbing the inner fender skins a little. I went back to stock size
235/40/18's are taller than 255/35/18's. As Squirrel Crusher pointed out, the plastic can be molded with a little heat and patience. People have run 285's on the front but they weren't lowered and the tire protruded outside the fender. I'm inside the fender and lowered. Pictures will be taken tomorrow.
On a side note, I shined up the stock front rims. I'm considering putting them on the car for the 1/2 mile competition coming up. They are more than an inch skinnier and could be worth a couple of mph. I'm still undecided. The car would look strange with 2 styles of rims even if it's a bit faster. I'm still sleeping on it.

You don't sound negative, just truthful. I've had: 225/40/18; 235/40/18; 245/35/18 and now 255/35/18. PS2s, Pilot Sport Cups, Yokohama AD08, Kumho XS and Hankook RS-3. I've used no spacers; 5 mm spacers and 10 mm spacers. Now I have aftermarket rims with a 30mm offset. I think 30 mm is perfectly centered in the wheel well, no way to get it better. Now I have to take pics or else.

Please take some pictures and drive a few hard corners for me, I am going to be running a Tire class in one of my autocross locations and would like to get a 255 on the front, im just worried about the front fender hitting the tire. Did you shave the top nut on the suspesion or no?
No shaving of the nut yet. Waldig is using a 255 on the front but he shaved the nut. It's real close, like 1 mm or 2 at the most. I'm running with -2.3º of camber too. My biggest worry is under braking. Pictures tomorrow ...... afternoon after I pull the wheels and inspect for signs of contact. If I don't rub or hit anywhere, it's only by 1 or 2 mm. I can't imagine getting any closer.

I pulled the wheels this afternoon and so far it's not rubbing on the inside. However, it appears to be touching the fender lip under heavy braking. I saw a wisp of rubber on one of the tires that seems to have been cut by the inner fender. I'll get them rolled before the next track day. Under track conditions that nut may come into play. Time will tell.

Thanks for the well documented tire experience. I have some Hankook ventus v12's ordered but I really like the tread on the RS-3's. I know it is early but how do you like them so far? The pictures look great! I also thought you were running variant's?
The Hankooks Ventus RS-3's are super sticky but wear out fast. 140 treadware tells the story. I wouldn't recommend this wide for the street, it's just not needed. But for the race track it could be worth a lot of time.
I have K&W Variant II on the car but unlike other cars, it consists of a spring with adjustable perch and a Koni shock. Much, much heavier duty.

SOunds like your RS-3's are going to rock on the track. From what I've read you are going to have a good season this year! Do you upload any videos to youtube?
Thanks for the info again.

I need to replace some old Falkens on the front of my recently acquired SRT6 Roadster, and have decided on Hankook Ventus V12's for the stock rims. Is there a plus size (ie 235/35/18) beyond the 225/40/18 that safely clears the suspension and introduces the least or zero added complexity (rubbing, traction control) for spirited street and mountain driving? Thanks in advance for your help! I've been reading the forum non-stop for weeks and can't seem to find a definitive answer.

I can share that I just had to remove a pair of 245 x 40 x 18 from the front of my SRT6 because they were a bit too big . . . rubbed on the inner fender in several places under varying conditions. I went back to the stock size of 225 x 40 x 18 . . . I'm sure someone else will chime in . . .

I ran the Hankooks and now nitto invo's both the same size, some rubbing in the fender but not the upper control arm nut; due to how low I am, but I expected that.
TSW Max 19"X8.5" et 43mm with 12mm hubcentric spacers for an effective 31mm offset, in 245/35ZR19. The OEM springs were cut 7/8 of a coil and 1" off the shock bumper and 5 dot spring pads.
