Spare Tire?
So while I'm trying to work out an issue with my car, I take a look at my daughters Lexus and decide to check out her spare tire. Come to find out it only has 11 lbs of pressure so have to take it up to 30..thank goodness she hasn't had a problem! After that I decide to look at my spare tire...only I can't find it. Is it underneath the thing there that holds the jack/spray to fix a flat, but I can't find a way to get under there. I refer to my owners manual and find no mention of a spare tire at all. IS there a spare tire underneath there or am I missing a spare tire that sits on top where I would see if when I open the trunk? If THAT'S the case then I sure don't have much storage room for grocery shopping, etc.! I searched on this forum and came up with nothing and googled with the same result except for a mention of a "donut" tire. I KNOW there is something on this forum because after I search something here, sure enough someone from the forum sends me a link for whatever issue I am looking up. I don't know why my search abilities don't work on the forum.
Well I guess that explains not finding anything on it. Never heard of a car not having a spare before. Thanks for the info.
This is why a lot of owners carry a tire plug kit AND probably have AAA membership. If you ever get a flat, DON'T drive on it (just get it off to safety) because you don't want to damage a rim. They're more expensive than a tire. Call AAA and let them pull the flat and see if it can be "plugged" and inflated with the inflator. They (AAA) may have a pressure inflator with them. Normally, they won't help a motorist fix a tire at the site, but being a female with no spare tire around the waist, I'm sure you could easily talk them into it.... LOL. Also try NOT to use any of that sealer gook that is in the can, because it could screw up the TPM in the tire. Only for emergency use. Just sayin....

Another reason we don't have a spare tire is because we have 18" front wheels and 19" rear wheels and no single spare tire is really useful when it comes to different size wheels.
You most certainly dont ever want to have two different sizes on the rear because you will dmage the rear end gears quite quicky

Well I'm one of those Crossfire Coupe owners with a donut spare from a Mercedes Benz SLK. I bought it from a German car vendor in Potomac, Maryland a few years ago. It is a 17" wheel and fit the front and back and a 70 series tire that has a height equal to our rear 19" tire, since the spare sidewall is larger than our low profile tires. The spare came with the special set of short lugs, since the spare wheel is steel and looks like a typical donut spare.
I bought the spare about 5 years ago, at $200.
You may want to google search LKQ, a salvage yard, i believe I saw one recently on Ebay.
Good Luck....

I will check it out to see what it looks like. Have you ever used it?

I just went on a 3000 mile trip with my Crossfire, no spare, no worries. I've been driving since 1977 and have only ONCE had a tire let go on me, a piece of steel sliced a rear tire open and ruined the tire.
Any other failures I've had were slow leaks due to punctures. I carry the factory air pump, and a "tire worm kit" in the trunk that includes a few "tire worms", a tube of rubber cement and two tools used to repair the flat. I have only used it once, and even then the leak was pretty slow, came from a triangle piece of steel that put a small hole in a rear tire.
On my pickup, I've even pulled out a screw, and plugged the hole with the tire still on the truck - once I got new truck tires and I was amazed (as was the tire tech) that I had four tire worms in one tire! I'd been driving off road a lot and picking up a lot of stuff in the tires.... I keep that in mind and SELDOM drive off into the grass with the Crossfire.
A picture of "tire worms" and the tool used to 'inject' them into a hole....

I carry a front wheel assy. when on long trips. It fits on the back w/o ESP issues and no worries to damage the diff. since it's almost the same O/A height as a rear wheel

you have your spare, it will fit front and/or rear, your spare is all you need the rim size does not matter (as long as it clears the brakes) the front calls for 25.6 tall and the rear calls for 26" tall tire,, the rear is your only concern .... both rear tires should be very very close to the same size, the front size does not matter as long as you don;t go over 100mph
I had bought new tires a few years ago (not on the crossfire) it was a front wheel drive car, and they had put one smaller tire on the rear, I noticed it about the second day( it was on the R rear) ,,, took it back, ,,they put on the correct tire. and gave me a $50.00 credit to use in Pepboys.
