They have been ordered.

I missed the sale on the rear tires, so the total was $295 for all 4 shipped to my door.

Far cry from the $1200 I was quoted by Les Schwab.

I will be able to afford good shocks with the money I saved.

Just wanted to send a shout out for the Achilles tires.

These are very good tires. They hold the road well and are no louder than the Michelin Sport tires that were on the car when I got it.

Good value for the price.

Jared, I have been looking into this same tire setup. Did Walmart ship to you? Then how, who did the installation for you? My nearest Walmart store has their tire center temporarily closed. Plus, being from Oregon, I now have to pay Washington sales tax when I cross over the river! And driving very far on these 17 year old Michelins could be an issue. Lots of cracking on these tires with less than 20k miles. Plenty of sun abuse, though.

They shipped to my house, and Wal-Mart mounted them for me before our tire center closed.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I will order them shipped to my house, Then take the wheels/tires in my pickup truck to an Oregon Walmart and have them install once they reopen. Not a big issue time wise for me. Car is new to me, from Washington, so Oregon DMV is closed, and when changing title from out of state, DMV needs to look at vin #. So I'm just waiting until the covid smoke clears to move forward. Thanks for info.

Not to changer the subject here but ......... has any one ever heard of Nan King NS-25 tires? I am thiMking about custom rims from https://audiocityusa.com/shop/20-AC-...yABEgLFNvD_BwE and they offer these as well as Lexani Twenty tires for additional $$$. The Lexani are directional and the Nan King is an all season. That is about all I know.

I have seen the Nankang n-25 for sale. They actually were in my cart before I ended up ordering the Achiles tire which are due here on the 28th or sooner. I do have a set of Nankang NS-1 high performance tire on one of my Fiero's. They are pretty well rated, however I have only put about 150 miles on the tires since I purchased them from Discount Tire Direct a number of years ago. I think they are now discontinued, Tire works good so far and from what I have read, they are a reputable brand.

I have the Nankang 25/AS UHP all the way around. Love these tires. In my opinion they grip and ride way better than the Falken and Hankooks I had on the car before. I also went up to 255/35/ in the front and 285/30 in the rear. So I have way more rubber on the road. I also had the DIY rear camber kit and front eccentric camber bolts put on the same time I got the Nankang’s. The quality of the tire and the price is hard to beat. Plus the car rides so much smoother than before. It’s night and day.

Got to drive in some pretty heavy rain and standing water on the freeway.

I am impressed. These tires actually perform better than the new Toyos on my Red 04.

The tendency to hydroplane is probably half of what the Toyos are. Most likely has to do with the large deep grooves the Achilles tire has.

Instead of paying $109 for the rears at Walmart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Achilles-...-BSW/582210383
They are only $74 here https://simpletire.com/achilles-p255...ab253519-tires

So with the fronts costing $60 at Walmart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Achilles-...Tire/287348400
That brings the cost of an entire set of tires down to just $268!!! (for a Limited)
And just the same as ordering tires from Walmart, Simple Tire has free shipping.

If you want to go full-on cheap/inexpensive (I'm not getting involved in that argument) they have 239 different front tires (225/40R18) costing as little as $58.96:
https://simpletire.com/catalog?width...&query=catalog

And 136 different rear tires (255/35R19) costing as little as $67.97:

The offset in price is cancelled out by the additional amount you will now pay to have those 2 tires mounted since you didn't purchase them from Walmart.

OK. Then here are the rears for just $73.45 from Walmart. That brings a complete set down to just $267 including free mounting!!!

Doing the same thing with all the tire options available through Walmart we get...
255 different front tires (225/40R18) starting as low as $49.92:
https://www.walmart.com/search/?page...sort=price_low

And 120 different rear tires (255/35R19) costing as little as $72.84:

So if you didn't get a Stimulus check (I didn't) don't despair, for a set of Xfire tires only costs $246 !! 😀

The cost of a cheap tire causing your untimely death in a high-speed cart-wheeling crash? Priceless.

Having looked at every Walmart tire under $100 these seem to be head & shoulders above everything else in quality and reputation. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Federal-S...Tire/125336274
Federal SS595 at $72 for the fronts. They seem super-sticky yet quiet and have an excellent reputation as drift tires. Overall Federal has a great reputation for making inexpensive performance tires which sometimes outperform the expensive brands. The only downside is that there isn't a 255/35R19 size rear tire in the SS595 series. There is however, a P245/35R19 for $95 -OR- a 265/30R19 for $100.

I'm far from needing tires, especially seeing as I've only put 3500 miles on it in 11 months. But when I do if the Xfire tire situation is essentially the same I see no reason not to give these a try and I shall do as you suggest. I only put this here in case the information is useful to someone else. Did Walmart balance the tires for you as well? If so what was the charge for that?

Got my Achilles Sport 2 from Walmart today. Two came from Pennsylvania, two from Florida. Of course I live in Oregon so they have lots of miles on them already! Shipped price was $267.56 for all four. I believe Walmart tire centers are still closed in Oregon/Washington, so may go to a third party for mounting/balancing. Tire pressure monitors work fine, so will not touch them at this point.I was curious to see the build dates on the tires since a lot of shops locally now refuse to work on anything over six years old. Gee, maybe they want to sell new tires, you think. The fronts were week 30, and week 50 of 2019. The rears both week 50, 2019. Could have been worse. If a tire sits in inventory for a year or more it can really cut into the service life of a tire. They don't look at the sell date when making that jugement, they look at the date on the tire. One of my pet peeves as I age!

No, that's not to be mistaken for a Crossfire in the background. 88 Fiero GT custom.

I know everyone loves looking at tires, not on wheels yet! I have noticed the tire grooves seem quite wide compared to many tires. We will see how they do.
