Walmart tire centers still closed. So I called Superior Tire in Longview, Wa, about 45 minutes away, and they said they would be happy to install my mail order Achilles. Put the XF on jackstands and we drove up there. After dropping off the tires and rims, we wandered around the Harbor Freight and a few other stores that were open for a couple hours, returned to Superior Tire and they had everything ready. $14.00 each tire dismount, install new tires and balance. I asked them to recycle the old tires so that was an extra $12.00 for the four. Total of $73.51 after tax.So the total for tires and install, was $341.07. I'm happy with that. Brought everything home, cleaned and polished the rims, did a bit more cleanup in the wheel wells, installed the wheels and took it for a short ride. Everything seems fine, pretty quiet, but didn't get past 50 mph on the secondary roads. I sure do need the plates for this thing. Hurry ,Oregon, and open the DMV.

We now have a temporary trip permit for the XF, so have driven it a about a 75 miles or so. Achilles tires are quiet and responsive, but do flat spot after sitting. The flat spots seem to work themselves out after some miles. Installed a new steering stabilizer which has helped some with the tram lining, hunting, I was getting before. Old stabilizer, upon removal, felt fine and was not leaking.

$250 for all 4 tires ????? That is one hell of a bargain, buy 3 sets while at that price and you'll be spending about what a set of name brand tires cost.

Lots of tires out there now that have similar performance characteristics as name brands for a whole lot less money. Even though these are produced by an Indonesian tire maker, the technology today is such that tire quality differences between brands is disappearing. IMO

Ppl like to spend lots of $ for a name. Then when the (whatever) doesn't 'live up' to its name, they still pump up the brand because they don't want to admit they got taken & spent too much money. Its human nature, to do this sort of thing...

I have been debating what to do about replacing my rears, I have Nitto Motiva in stock size and all are at 8/32 EXCEPT one of the rears which is down to the wear bar. Thought about getting one rear at 200 bucks to have a complete set but went ahead and bought these in the 275/35/19 for about the same money. They should be here in a week and I will get them mounted and give some feedback. At less than 100 a tire I will not feel as bad doing burnouts!

Jared, I was curious as to how the tires are holding up. Still happy?

Still completely happy with them.

I drive my XF hard too.

I really can't tell the difference between these tires and the Toyos on my other XF, other than the fact that the Toyos are a little louder.

Jared

OMG have you seen how much more tires cost NOW than they did a year ago??? It's insane!!!

The Achilles tires this thread focusses on are "out of stock" everywhere. A sort of uniform 'OOS' that connotes they'll never again be in stock.

A seller on Ebay that specializes in rubber products (and tires are made out of...) recently informed me rubber has gone up so high he is even having trouble getting his products made from it. FYI...

This is obviously the Achilles heal of some tires. I am looking for Hankooks rears, I hope I have no trouble getting them.
