If you are looking for technical help, it is best to post in a technical area of the forum, as some of us tend to ignore the 'new member introduction' area.
If you are looking for parts, Chrysler dealers are a waste of time, as Chrysler does not support any Mercedes products anymore, since the "divorce".

If you are talking about the front lower control arm bushings then it is usually best to just buy the entire arm. Paying someone to remove the old bushings and press them on will be more expensive or almost the same price to install new arms. You will also need ball joints too and depending on mileage you might want to change the steering link, steering damper etc. After it is all done you will need a wheel alignment no matter what.

If there is a little play then you need to change the steering link too. The original manufacturer Lemforder sells the lower control arms, ball joints, center link etc aftermarket. You might want to get eccentric bolts also in case they have a hard time aligning the car afterwards, you will need 4 total bolts.

The Crossfire is not a Mercedes product, it uses plenty of Mercedes parts. The car is a product of the Daimler Chrysler union that was. Spare parts can be purchased through Chrysler but better prices are obtained by buying direct from a Mercedes dealer. You may need to give the year and VIN number of your fictitious Mercedes car that uses the same part though.

Thanks to all. Never occurred to me that I could simply walk into a Mercedes garage and give them the vehicle details for parts.. and also the original manufacturer that I can Google for parts .. thanks again

So I'm looking to install new front lower control arm bushing. I noticed the center section in the new bushing is actually offset. (First I've seen this) Does anyone know what the orientation is for the bushing to press into the arm......don't want to rely on the old ones do to them being worn out.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to mention, I wouldn't go into a Mercedes dealer, just price the parts from the many online sellers of Mercedes parts such as FCP Euro.

For example, here is the front Control Arm Kit for the Crossfire, it's made by Lemforder, who is the OEM supplier for Mercedes suspension parts. Usually on 1/2 to 2/3rds the price of a Mercedes branded Lemforder part. Just a tip, search parts based on the R170 Mercedes (2000-2004 SLK320) if they don't have the Crossfire listed.

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...mforder-170320

As mentioned, it's usually cheaper to change the whole arm instead of just the bushing.

All crossfire steering seem loose (the steering wheel will move 1 to 2 inches when the motor is off but u may need only to replace the steering stabiliser lot cheaper than the arms and most of the time is the problem and again order your parts as your car is a 2000 to 2004 mercedes slk 320

I confirmed I have bad bushings. I found good bushings for 80.00 and wanted to do just them. Have no idea how the car handles as it is not on the road yet. Just bought it. Fixed the starting issued now just the little things

My Crossfire steering doesn't seem 'loose'. It's tight with almost no 'travel' when sitting and very responsive control when driving.

Personally, I'd skip that one, and go to FCP Euro, and get their warranty . Worth it.

That needs to be looked at. Luckily my alignment shop found my bad center link while getting an alignment for my new tires. Find a good Mercedes independent mechanic or alignment shop, they can inspect your suspension and figure out what is worn out.

Spend the few bucks more can get the OEM Lemforder produced parts. They are original parts and quite a bit cheaper than Mercedes branded parts (made by Lemforder). As mentioned, go with FCP Euro, great customer service and long warranty on anything you buy there. They also happen to be the cheapest for most parts even compared to other online stores.

Whichever route you take, be sure to get lower ball joints. They don't always automatically come with the lower arms.

The only bushings that are bad are the lower front rear bushing. My parts guy found them and has them in stock. I don't recall the manufacture but a I know they are good ones. I have the the press to change them as I've done many. Just have not found them that are offset as these are. I looked again tonight and i can mark the arm prior to removing the old ones to install the new ones. as for ball joints I already have them and they are lifetime warranty.

If the bushings in your car are offset, someone put them there, trying to get the car to align.
