Default Sinking brake pedal

Hi Everyone.
Spring is finally here and it’s time to drive our Crossfires.
I hope that someone will have some insight to help me with my brake issue.
I had my Crossfire inside all winter being stored and finally took it out and went for a spin.
I soon realized that I had some new braking issue that I didn’t have when I stored it last fall.
when I first press the brake it quite rapidly sinks to the bottom, and if I release it right away and let let pedal come back up and then press it back down right away it then holds and brakes. But if I release it for a few seconds or so and then try and press the brake again it drifts right back down to the floor pretty much. Not sure if this is air in the lines or if it’s a master cylinder issue? I don’t see any brake fluid leak or loss anywhere. The tank is right full.
Any insight or help would be much appreciated.

Do a fluid replacement and you should be OK... Make sure it is DOT-4.

Ok thanks.
I there detailed info somewhere as to how to get this done properly? I’ve never done break fluid change before. Are there any better recommended dot 4 fluids which I should use?
thanks.

I haven't seen you on the forum in a long time. Welcome back. Did you every fix your problem with the BCM?

You can use the genuine Mercedes Dot 4 which isn't terribly expensive or Pentosin Super Dot 4 which is available at most part stores. The fluid change is detailed in the service manual but if I don't think most shops would charge that much if you just wanted to take it somewhere you trusted. It would take about an hour and bring your own fluid.

~ If the fluid change and bleed does not work for you, I would begin to suspect the brake master cylinder. If the fluid is running past the piston, you may get similar braking symptoms.

If it were master cylinder would it not just always sink to the bottom every time you push on the brake and not only on the first pump?

Plus one. ^
Master cylinder, wheel cylinder, or leak in the line.

It means I agree with what was said above and use an arrow. (^)

Thanks.
I will look into changing the fluid.

as for the BCM I did swap it for another a few years ago but didn’t resolve the spoiler issue.
I have a scan tool but have no idea as to how to use it yet lol hence will need to look into it at some point.

If it's any help, I had exactly the same symptoms on my old vert and my current SRT6, as they both sat/sit around all winter. In both cases bleeding the brakes and changing the fluid brought back a solid pedal.

If you have a manual 6spd transmission and are going to bleed the brakes , bleed the clutch slave also, they share the same fluid

Just wanted to do an update on my sinking brake pedal. Over the weekend I purchased a quart of Pentosin super dot 4. Replaced the old brake fluid in the reservoir and did a brake bleed on all 4 brakes and now the pedal is rock solid. Thanks for the help and insight. Enjoy the nice weather.
