Re: My Other Weekend Project
All -- this was actually REALLY EASY to do and only took about 15 minutes per wheel. I bought a Dupli-Color caliper paint kit from Auto Zone for about $15. It comes with the paint, spray cleaner, masking tape, a mixing stick, and a paint brush. It comes in lots of colors too. The paint itself is ceramic-based and is supposed to withstand over 500 degree F heat. The paint comes in a pretty small can but a little seems to go a long way. I did two coats on my front calipers and I have enough paint left over to do two or three more cars.
Aside from looking cool, it ostensibly will provide added benefits because it fills in the imperfections in the caliper casting and creates a smoother surface that should be much easier to keep clean.

Re: My Other Weekend Project
I just thought I'd give you all a follow-up on this. I put about 600 miles on the car since I did the paint so the wheels and caliper were nice and grubby. I hit the caliper with the hose and the brake dust just washed away leaving a nice, clean caliper. The wheels cleaned up pretty easy too since I have been using 3M teflon wheel cleaner.
That paint comes in many colors besides red so if painted calipers aren't you thing you could always paint them silver to make them look just like stock, except that they clean up much easier. Here's the link to the stuff I used.

Do a search, much has been written on the Rotex Gold, Porterfield and EBC pads here. The Rotex stop as good, if not better than the OEM pads AND with very little dust (a little less than what the OEM rear pads produce). No brake squeal either. EBC is junk and way too dirty.

Great Job!!!
The Rotex Gold pads are worth the expense...about 97% dust free. I have used the 3M caliper paint kit in the past and it did not hold up well (maybe something I did). I used the Folia-Tec brake caliper paint Kit, works extremely well. The paint is a heat resistant 2 part epoxy paint and comes in a wide variety of colors and costs about $30.00.
