I would like to get the vent trap, but only if Red Dog found the one he was looking for. How much is the cost?
Let me know if it is still available!

For those with deep pockets this part can be sourced from a Mercedes dealer, MB part No. of A 000 541 00 63.
Red Dogs photo actually shows the number.

I'm still looking for one if you find any in the barn. Yes they came with the original Varta batteries.

Hi Dave, No . . . CarneyMike went through all the WTB listings and told MANY members that he had what they wanted. Notice that after he posted here that he had a battery vent trap (post #3) . . . then in post #5 he asks "Where is this part located, does it come on a base coupe". D U H . . .

I PM'd him with several parts I want to buy all of which he should have if he dismantled a base coupe as he claimed. He never responded. Other's have had previous issues with him on this forum. I think it's best just to put CarneyMike on "ignore".

Still waiting to see of "Doc" finds one or two in the barn . . . DOC??

Ignore would be good.. banned would be better. Guess he's going to have to shaft 4-5 members at once to become worthy of that status..

There are two vents on all the batteries I have had lately, one at each end, fore and aft on a Crossfire.
The Crossfire aft end is plugged with a small hard to see plug, the front end had the vent trap pictured above. People without the plug or people who have had a battery seriously overflow have found serious damage under the battery tray, some have had the vacuum line to a heater control eaten into.
The best thing here is to fit a trap or a plastic line like some cars have to divert the acid away from the car.

Found out that my new battery was leaking acid from the over flow. I removed the battery and the tray was all rusted up. I sanded the tray down and repainted it. There is what looks like a vacuum line underneath the tray that was eaten away. I repaired the line but I don't know what it is for. Anyone that can answer this would be great. Many thanks. I also installed a dry cell battery so no more acid over flow.
