Default Battery post cover

Gentlemen - I have misplaced (i.e. lost) the red positive battery post cover for my XF. If anyone is parting out a car, or has an extra post cover, I need one. As I said, it's red in color, has two plastic pegs that fit the battery hold-down and is found over the positive battery post. A small item but I would like to find one. If you have one to get rid of, please let me know. My email is jpmlholian@aol.com if that is better for you. If anyone knows where I can maybe find a new one, let me know that as well.

Thanks for your help,

Jim Holian

ala_xfire - Thanks for finding that for me. I looked on ebay but I guess I didn't look far enough. That looks like the gadget, to me. I agree, it seems like a lot of money for a small piece of plastic, but when your a dummy and lose your's, that the price you have to pay!

Thanks again for the help,

onehundred80 - Thank you. I tried your suggestion yesterday, at two places, and all they had was the generic slip on terminal covers and they were new and packaged for sale. I didn't want those but rather want the original style for the XF.

I wanted to add a black cover to the negative post on the battery, similar to the factory red one that came with the Varta battery. I stopped in my local Mercedes service department and asked them if they had any spares. They pulled a red one off an old battery and gave it to me for free, took it home and sanded off the + and painted it semi gloss black and now matches my original red cover. Our batteries never came with a negative battery post cover from the factory.
Free is good.....

You should have asked for a vent cap as well.
Did you have to cut the positive battery cover? I purchased a battery and it had a black cover on the positive terminal and I had to cut it to fit the.negative terminal. The negative cover is the reverse or opposite hand to the positive cover.

I’ve got a spare. If you haven’t already bought one, pm me your address and I’ll ship it next week.

I cut up a black cover to clear the cables to go over the negative terminal, it came on the positive terminal of a battery I purchased. I guess they put it on there for shipping. It looks good.
