Default Low Beam Headlight Adjustment

I know about the high beam adsjustment devices on the back of the headlight units - but what about height adjustment for low beam ? Can this be adjusted or is it factory set?

Both lamps are attached. If you adjust one-both move. At least IN US spec.

There are individual adjusters on the headlamps but they're hidden/sealed off in N. America so we can't mess with them. European cars may have these adjustments accessible.

There are adjustments on the bottom of the headlamp ****, it adjusts the whole headlight not just the inside stuff. Maybe the thole lamp needs a little tweak

The two bolts on the bottom are mounting bolts that go through an adjustable collar to snug fit to the bracket before tightening. Those aren't intended for aiming but the adjustable collars make sure you don't crack the plastic brackets when you tighten up those PITA bolts. Once those are secured the headlight unit can be aimed with the long adjustment screw sticking out the back of the headlamp housing.

Beaner - I know you know I've been there! Do I need to drive down there?

The left and right adjusters can be got at by removing the plug in the adjuster as per James1549's earlier post.

I'm thinking up and down is only adjustable for both lamps at the same time using the white adjuster, left and right adjustment is done individually using the two grey adjusters
.

The normal reason for this is that the bulbs have been put in wrong, the tabs on the bulbs point down for the low beams and up for the high beams. The bulbs have also to be in just right as well.
Putting the bulbs for the high beams with the tabs pointing down will have the bulbs really pointing down.

Fairly new owner of 2008 XFIRE. Am learning a lot from this forum.
When driving at night my low beans do not project out very far. About 1.5 car length. Are there different lightbulb replacements out there that will shine further out?
Thanks,
Paul

Morimoto H7 HID's from The Retrofit Source.
( I advise removing the headlights for this for 2 reasons :
1. It is next to impossible to get the HID bulbs installed without removal.
2. You can mount the ballasts on the metal frame below each headlight, out of sight. )

My headlight is aimed to sides, what can i do to make it beam forward?
I bought srt a month ago, figured out it's really hard to have forward vision due to light focused on far left and right...
I feel light i'm blinding side-walkers and cars on opposite lane.

This is a first-I haven't read this problem before.

I would start by making absolutely SURE the bulbs are installed correctly.

As 180 said above- the indexing tabs on the bulbs must be:

UP for High Beams

DOWN for Low Beams

And they must be properly seated in their little detents to even start pointing in the correct direction.

Start there!

Left to right and right to left adjustment is done with the grey adjusters on each end of the headlight unit. The plug in the vertical hole is removed and an Allen key used to turn the adjuster. 1549 did a post on this some years back, CLICK.

when i purchased srt, halogen bulb was installed. i thought it was because of how reflections are designed, so i installed HID at the shop but still having same problem.
I'm pretty much sure, they sit the bulb on correct position.
before i adjusted UP and down on the light angle, it was adjusted to maximum down angle. light focused on the left and right lane if i go on the road.

From what I have seen the trouble starts when someone installs a bulb and does not get it seated correctly, then their bright idea () is to adjust the headlight unit up, down or sideways. After a while they get frustrated and complain that the problem is in the headlight itself. The problem is compounded if the car is sold in this state.
The first step to resolve the problem would be to get the headlights adjusted so that the high and low beams on both sides of the car are at the same height having checked that the bulbs are seated truly. Then the side to side adjustment can be made if required, this would only be required if they had been adjusted from the OEM side to side positions. Click for 1549's side to side adjustment post.
The headlight units cannot come out of the true aim positions unless they have been tampered with or the cars frame has been readjusted in a crash. The bulbs are made to aim correctly by the manufacturer. Just get decent bulbs not some unknown brand from God knows where.

It should be remembered that the bulb sits in its pocket snugly, so care has to be taken to get it into that pocket to start with and keep it there as the spring clamp is latched to hold it in place.
I have found that you can move the bulb around when it is not in the pocket but still held held by the spring, you can carefully move it into position and it pops into the pocket.

Thanks for this thread. I have Osram off road bulbs and they are bright with a wide coverage area and I wanted to adjust each one a bit more toward the middle for more focus and less dispersion.

Did you find the lateral adjusters? They are the ones with the caps. The lateral take several turns to adjust the beam unlike the vertical which about a half turn is too far.

Thanks, yes I did but didn't get a chance to do it yet. Probably this weekend, since I haven't put it in for the winter.
