Need help - compression test?
Need help - compression test?
Hubby changing spark plugs today & wants to do a compression test of the cylinders. Can't seem to get to the service manual. Been searching & I know it's on this forum somewhere. .. Would someone kindly send me the link? He also said something about the fuel pump. Is he going to blow up my car??? Anything to watch out for?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Never mind! I told him to just change the plugs. I did find the link, though. Sometimes it's easy to find what I'm looking for, sometimes it's not... Going to try to find a service manual set on ebay. Old school. Hoping to get the Eurocharged tune & trying to get my ducks in a row. Would like to reward my car for saving my life 2x.

Re: Need help - compression test?
Here's the link to all the service manuals, and everything else available for the Crossfire:
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html
Short version is that the compression must be done with engine fully warmed up, and the readings must not be lower than 100 psi, nor must there be greater than a 25% difference between the cylinders. Make sure the throttle plate is wide open, or remove the throttle body from the intake manifold.
BC.

Re: Need help - compression test?
Installed iridiums. Took hours. Extra trip to PepBoys. Guy said only SRTs had 12 plugs. Even I knew that was wrong. Car runs very smoothly. One old plug had some carbon at 37,400 miles. Slight oil coating around coil packs. Ugh. How concerned should I be?
