The "old fob" has nothing to do with your car starting.. The RFID chip in the fob is the reason it starts. If you have looked into anything we have told you.. you know what the chip looks like and where it sits in the fob. You could tape just that chip vrs the whole fob and the car will start if your "worried" about messing it up. I don't know what other advice you could be looking for.
Have you even put batteries in "the old fob" and tried the sync. method to see if it will even work the door locks?
