I recently updated mine with some slasher stripes. The chrome side strake overlays go on next weekend.

Nice, be sure to post some pics. I was talking with FP about slashers on my black coupe and I told him my idea. I think it would look really mean to do slashers on a black XF in matte black. I am going for the subdued black out look and I think the subtlety of that look wiill be awesome

Bahaha the "Obama" edition the only problem with this statement is I feel that the graphite it one of the best looking colors our cars came in.

Im working on blacking out the emblems/grille/handles/vents. Ive got a few blemishes to take care of as well. I was thinking about the lights but I HATE black tail lights. Another alternative I was thinking of was to get it "wrapped" in matte black. Got this baby for a 10k and change with 60k mi. The only think I really honestly need to do is replace the blower motor resistor, maybe a tire pressure sensor (light is on) and the headlights, they tend to fog up when I wash it. Interior is pretty flawless except the driver side seat has a tiny bit of wear when you "slide" across when you get in. After I replace the radio for a DVD/NAV flip up and the resistor, I will begin on the exterior. Whatcha think?

edit: oh yeah, I NOW need a new windshield....... a highway rock decided to put a running crack in my life.

ps. yes the wheels are on backwards. they are currently on the right way, this was a dealer pic. will be posting more soon

What is covering your windshield surround? Looks matte black

I think the previous owner painted it matte.

Personally, I think you need to figure out which direction you want to go, and do it. Having silver, gloss black, matte black, chrome, etc all on the car makes the matte look like primer, not an accent piece.

I would either paint this body color (correctly) and stay with the black on the strakes and handles as well, or else, go back to silver on the WS surrounds. I am just giving my $0.02 since you asked, but I have customized quite a few dark cars in my time and IMHO they have turned out pretty well

I plan on there being ZERO silver/chrome on the outside. Do you think the matte would be fine or should I make that gloss as well?

Since the car is gloss and you want everything to flow, I would suggest having it done in gloss black, unless you plan on doing a lot of matte black accents to tie it in. I like to keep with a theme, personally.

I wanted to do my entire black coupe in matte, but when I realized that i would probably not like it in a few years, I reconsidered. I think the matte black/gray accents belong on a car that is not gloss black, but that is just my opinion.

Good luck with it, they sure are fun (except the constant cleaning, only reason I went to graphite metallic)

Proud to say I've owned it for 23 hours and put 500 miles on it!

Those are the craziest Bremmer wheels I have seen. Any better pics?
