I was going to ask what passenger seat option you have added, but I won't.

I had a lemon of a Mercedes C240 was about to crash it into a median to collect insurance money and went online and looked at crossfires and found one in a decent price range with decent miles on it. Needless to say the styling of this car still competes with some of the better cars out there. Mine is not an SRT6 but for a 3.2 L V6 it still moves and it is just a fun car that still turns heads to this day, that is why I bought one. The only thing we are missing is a huge aftermarket for these but then again it is a Mercedes engine..

Besides all of the stated reasons, power, style, rarity, and the total package of the SRT 6. My first car was a 1968 AMC AMX, thats a little two seater from back in the day; for all you old timers. LOL Well for reasons I care not to mention I lost it in 1974. I haven't had a sport car since then and now that I when back to school (Duquesne University) I told my wife that I wanted a sports car for my graduation present. I am now a junior and I guess I kind na jumped the gun, I am also a proud owner of a SRT 6 coupe. Maybe I wil get a convertible for graduation. Basically when it come down to my choice for sports cars, I like to stand out from the crowd.

Nothing feels like a manual 2 seat swb car with rear wheel drive (whether front or mid engine) . When the price (new) reached a level where one could be had for half the price of anything comparable with all the modern amenities, a Mercedes drive train, and a lifetime power train warranty, the question became how one could not buy one. I'd have bought these specs even with a Daewoo or Kia badge. I feel the same way with respect to the used Crossfire market and if it were up to me I'd own another. My wife, however, says four cars are enough for any one guy. She's right of course, and if she didn't put the brakes on I'd own a dozen.

My Crossfire was a gift to me from my parents. It was originally a gift for my mom, but when i turned 17, my parents gave it to me and now it's mine! Driving it to school is the best, especially all of the looks I get!

About two years ago, I went to a local dealer to test drive a used BMW that a friend was interested in buying. I test drove it and pulled into an empty space in the lot.

The salesman asked how I liked it and I said it was nice. Standing there I noticed a beautiful white fastback sports car. What's that ?, I asked; he said, it's a Crossfire.....do you want to drive it? Yes, I said.

Took the same route as the BMW ride, mostly freeway. Decided to punch it and quickly noticed I was going 100 mph! Hit the brakes and was quickly back to 60 mph. Really nice, I thought!

Back to the lot and the salesman asked how I liked it. Loved it, I said. Do you want to buy it? Yes, I said, I think I do. It was a 2004 LTD with 24K on the odometer and I got it for $11,900 (selling price).

Now THAT was an impulse buy and still no regrets.

The resaon I chose a crossfire is a combination of brand loyalty, parental requirements, and some subliminal messaging.

I'll start off with my brand loyalty: It started out with my father and his first car, a 68 Dodge Charger which he got when he was around the age of 16 or 17. Basically this was the car that he exercised his adolecence in pushing the limits of youthful invincibility. Then a couple of years later he was forced to get rid of the car because of me. Kids and muscle car according to my mother didn't seem to follow the same path. However he was able to talk her into getting rid of his V8 Charger for a 6 cylinder Trans Am (Go Figure???). Luckily the the Charger was sent to my uncle, so it stayed in the family. There was one stipulation though, that being that when I turned 18 I was to recieve the Charger back so that I could test my youthful invincibility. Sadly the Charger lived the majority of those 18 years outside in close proximity to the Jersey shore and it didn't fare too well (It still starts but there is alot of body rot). So that birthday came and went and my muscle mopar sits undrivable, as for my driving experience goes, I learned to drive in a 86 Jeep Cherokee, which was traded up for a 91 Jeep Cherokee, I drove my moms 99 Chrysler Sebring convetible to prom, and as far as I can remember the majority of my lifetime had a chrysler vehicle in the driveway. So the odds to get another Chrysler vehicle was kinda stacked.

In regards to parental requirements: I was drving a 99 TL that I had recieved as a family hand-me down, It was peppy and sleek looking in my opinion (Take into account that I had been primarily drivng older Jeeps previously). I had the car for about a year when I was involved in a head on collision with an SUV (Old Lady thought she could make a left hand turn while I was going the opposite way). Long story short I walked away with minor bumps and bruises and my mom swears that the airbags saved me from a more serious fate. At that time most of our cars in our home fleet weren't equipped with airbags so come a couple months later everything without airbags had to go. I ended up driving an 01 Buick LeSabre Custom as a temp car and driving t made me feel almost three time my age. I'm in my mid 20's and everybody else that drove Buicks seemed to be in their 60's or older. After a short period of complaints to my folks they agreed to help me buy something a little more age appropriate with the requirements being a price cap and it had to have airbags. I ended up searching for Japanese cars at first out of love and respect for my TL, I looked at TLs, 350Z, G35s. Then my folks took me to our local Chrysler dealership to look for a car for my sister (Ended up getting a Caliber), and on their used lot they had a G35, a Solstice, and a Black SRT6, not to mention a plethora of new Challengers. The only problem with the Challengers were that I could afford only an SE model and that didn't sit well with me (Putting a V6 in something that tuff looking is an oxymoron). I sat in the Solstice but it felt too cramped inside, then I sat in the G35 and didn't like some of it's button placement or the abridged backseat. Lastly I came to the Crossfire which had seen better times, it didn't start, had some interior damage and the driver rear quarter had been in an accident. But it still looked and felt the best out of all three, I ended up not buying it but I knew from that point on that I would own one eventually. Speed, Looks, Exclusivity, Value, What else is needed?

In regards to subliminal messaging, my father is a big Celine Dion fan and everyday for five years straight his CD alarm clock woke everybody up with the song "Drove All Night" (The Crossfire Commercial Song). I'm pretty sure that was the biggest contributing factor in my decision for a X-fire!!!

The main reason I chose an SRT6 over a NA X-fire was the 0-80 test blasts. (I'm just testing my youthful invincibility)

The fact that the car is so rare to see was a reason for me, not to mention the engine on the inside for the price of the outside!

As I began to read this, I had decided I was going to joke you about Celine Deon being the REAL subliminal message... and then you blew the joke by actually admitting to that!

Damn you!

No other car had made my Butt Pucker like it was able too...
I've had 2 and have never been more satisfied or happy with a vehicle.

When I was deployed to Afghanistan (3rd one), I had hopes of getting a new Caddy CTS. I came home on midtour leave, found one I loved, told the dealer I would hopefully be back after my full deployment was complete. Well when I got home I went straight to the dealership to pay cash for the vehicle I had "reserved". And what happened you may ask? The old bait and switch right then and there while I hadnt been back in the USA for more than 12 hours. Furious as I was, I let it go and chalked it up to fate. As I told my parents this, they suggested I drive their '04 xfire. As they say the rest was history. I ended up loving that car so much, I bought it from them that next week. Two years , and more than 30,000 miles later I am still superbly in love with this car. There IS nothing like this on the road; period. Only thing to do now is upgrade to an SRT-6. I do enjoy how well my NA handles and all, but as Ive read over and OVER on here, the power of the 6 is amazing. So if anyone out there is feeling like they are tired of their 6 (yea right haha), be sure and let me know!

Actually, an SLK 320 is quite a bit like it.

I don't own a Crossfire yet, but there's little chance I'll be buying something else. I'm getting deployed at the start of next month, so I'll have some cash this time next year to play with. Originally I was planning on dropping $30k+ on a Viper GTS, but figured that was to much money to be spending on a single car. After thinking about it for quite a while, and knowing I wanted to get a decent Mopar, I narrowed it down. The Crossfire is one sexy car with the performance to match, and it doesn't break the bank. Hopefully this time next year (or not to long after) I'll be able to post pictures of my long-awaited new purchase.

Though it was the coolest car I'd seen since first seeing one in 2004.
In 2007 I got my own.

I saw them in the local Chrysler dealer's lot several years ago (2005?) and thought they were the coolest car I had ever seen. Talked to the salesman a little bit. I would look at them every time I passed the Chrysler lot. My previous sports cars were a 2004 350Z, a 2002 BMW Z3M coupe, a 1980 Mazda RX7, and a 1978 Datsun 280Z.

I have been driving a Ford Expedition full time ever since a drunk totaled the 350Z 6 years ago.

A year ago I got on Edmunds.com and started pricing used 350Zs, Mcoupes etc... and I thought I would check the Crossfire. I couldn't believe how little they were selling for. I then lost interest for awhile.

Then about two months ago I priced them again on Edmunds.com and was shocked at the current prices. At Edmunds I priced 2005 Base, 10,000 miles, Mercedes drivetrain, German assembled, 215 HP, 3,000 pounds, $9,100 private party! What a DEAL! Immediately I shopped for one locally and on ebay. A friend of mine had and has one for sale but he didn't and doesn't really want to sell it. The one in San Antonio popped up on ebay and I decided that I could buy it on the Ebay auction and fly to San Antonio for not much and check it and the seller out before I let go of the cashier's check and that is what I did. Everything was good. I had a great time driving it back to Amarillo. Had it up to 145 on the trip back on a stretch of little traveled pavement between Ozona and Lamesa.

Sorry to be so windy.

Mike
