I was driving my GF's xf with the top down stuck in traffic on the strip one night. A big frat boy said, "Dude, you drive a chick's car." To which she replied quickly, "Yeah, and I'd look *hawt* sitting in that empty seat!"

Got me a glare a drunk bruiser only can perfect and a wink and a smile from his girl. Muhuhahaha!

Got me an XF a few weeks later.

Years ago I caught my first glimpse of a Crossfire on the way home from work, sitting in Cross Town Traffic just in front of me. The guy sittin next to me looked at the XFire, looked at my Harley, shouted out, " now that would be a hard choice to make in the mornings " !!! I had to agree !
Since that day the XFire had always been in the back of my brain, fast forward a couple of years and I decided that after raising a family and taking care of a wife for 28 years it was time to do something for myself. I searched the internet and found three XFires in the Austin area, a silver, a black and a red. The red was closest to where I live, so called the dealership and inquired about the car. They said that a couple of folks were looking at it but had not made an offer. I drove over to the lot and the car was no where to be found. Asked a salesperson about it, had it already been sold I inquired. Nope it's in the detail shop ! I waited around for 20 minutes are so and then they drove it out.........WOW that Inferno Red Paint just reached out and nabbed me ! Then I took it for a 100mph test ride...the salesguy was about as wide eyed as a hoot owl ! That was it....It's all over....I was unbelievably hooked by this lil machine !

When I retired on 3/3/03, I started to think about what I was going to do with my cars. I had three ( a 1964 1/2 Mustang cpe, a 1965 Corvette cpe, and a 1973 Mustang Mark I cpe ), but no convertable. As my first car was a 1957 Chevy convertable, I made up my mind to unload one of my cars and get the ragtop. In the summer of 04 I put all the cars up for sale, thinking I'd sell the first one and stop, but by the end of the summer they were all gone. That winter I started my search for a BMW Z-4, and couldn't really find what I wanted in a decent price range. Was getting a little put out as I wanted the car for the summer of 05. In February of 05 I was driving back from visiting a friend who lives five towns away, and as I passed by a dealship, I spotted the red convertable in front. As I didn't have any pressing plans I decided to pull in and take it for a ride. The salesman said he didn't think they would let me drive it. But come to find out it was used so they did. It was real cold that day and the salesman not happy when I pulled over and wanted the top down. I had no intention of buying the car as they wanted 30 k for it. Just so I could get out of there I told them my wife gave me a budget of 22k and that's what I would pay for it. LOL Drove it home next day,.

Enjoy reading these stories.........Somehow XF's catch the eyes and go straight to the heart! It definately wasn't the car I was looking for! I was tracking down a Volvo when I spotted a XF on a dealership website. After many views of the pics online I deceided to schedule a testdrive. In the meantime I gathered a little more info on this sexy looking vehicle that definately met my budget! Took the car out for a cruise and left the dealership with the car and this new love affair! My Midlife Chrysler aka The Jet had brought lots of head turns and ..."like your car " comments.... But what kind of car is it? Just luv this fun driving vehicle that has brought out this inner need for road speed!! Hooked.....and enjoying every minute of it!!!

I bought my Crossfire because it is a Karmann built Mercedes. I paid 25k for a new car that the top comes down and is red. Cant think of a better deal. Regards, Gary Moore

Because it's a hot looking car. And I could not beat the price for a Benz that happen to be wearing a Chrysler tag.

Great value. Great performance.

I was forced at gunpoint. Whoever said Chrysler had a bad marketing plan.

Seriously, we were hooked at first sight when we saw the first one in person. Fast forward a few years, I was in San Antonio on business and Hertz gave me one as a rental. SWEET! A few months or so after that my wife was in need of a "new" car. The first place we went was the Chrysler close by to see if they had any Crossfires. They just so happened to have a used red one being detailed. My wife test drove it a fell in love. I knew I loved it and didn't even test drive it before we bought it.

When we came home, I did an internet search and found this forum.

Fast forward a few months later and the deals on the corporate xfires were just too good to turn down. Chrysler dumped a bunch of xfires and flooded the market. That's when we bought the SRT-6.

I got my 2008 LTD in November of 2008. Reading the stories of those who bought much earlier, when I didn't even know what a Crossfire was, was incredible. Loved reading all those stories. THanks.
So happy I did.....keep these great stories coming in folks !!!

My wife did! Well she didn't make me, but she found the car, did the research, and brought the information to me. I was looking at BMW Z-3's (owned a 325 many years ago). After 20 plus years of pickup trucks, minivans, and four door grocery-getters, I wanted something fun to drive.

We went down to the bank and looked at the car, then drove it, then bought it. Totally out of character for me, as I will typically spend 6-9 months doing research, looking at cars, and fiddling with details until I find the right car for the right price. This one was velcro. It stuck and I couldn't get loose!

I had a 2008 Tahoe LTZ with all the bells and whistles, GPS Moonroof etc, and added about 2000.00 in Chrome for the outside. I traded it in on my SRT roadster which I found in Alabama over the internet at a dealer and had it trailered here to Texas. I had not even sat in a Crossfire before, but knew I wanted one! I read about it on this Forum and how everyone loved theirs, so this forum is what turned me to it! I bought it, never having sat in one, not knowing how it drove, and only seen pics of how it looked. I wanted a SRT roadster since they are the hardest to find and of course the SRT because of the power! So, I was patient for the right one to show up. My wife just shook her head. She could not believe I'd trade in my beautiful Tahoe (which it was!) for a car I had never sat in! I just want to say, I have been nothing but in love with it since I got it! No dissapointment here! I wanted a car that still is a head turner, and pretty much beat anything on the streets of Abilene. Theres only about 5 crossfires in Abilene, and no SRT's, so Im excited about going to the Texas Motor Speedway on the 26th and meeting some of its own breed!

I was in the market of selling or tradeing my '99 F150 and a friend told me one of his friends wanted a pickup and he had a Chrysler to trade. Well I knew the person he was talking of a little and I knew he had a sebring so I figured that was the car he was talking about. When I showed up and started asking a few questions about the seabring he quickly mentioned that was not the car he wanted to get rid of. He opened the garage and there it was... an '04 SSB Chrysler Crossfire.

When I saw that, I knew he would want a bit more than just my F150 so I asked him what would he take along with the truck. He hummed and haawed for a min and said the truck and $5000 cash (I live in Canada). I said well.... I will give you a call tomorrow morning with an answer and with the cash if I decide to trade.

Keeping in mind that I had 2 childeren under the age of 3 and a 2 seater is not very practical. I went home and told the almost wife about the car and her answer was no. She went on and on how we do NOT need that now blah blah blah...

I called the guy at 9am and had to tell him I will have the truck and cash at his house in 30 min. We went to the licence bureau, transfered ownerships, went got a safty certification for both vehicles and I was home at around noon. If there was a gun in my house... well lets just say she was not happy. Till this day she does not like me haveing the Crossfire, does not like the forum. "It takes up too much of your time". I beg to differ. I like it

For me, mine belonged to my best friend, it was not the looks that got me at first it was the performance, the way the car felt... the sound of the doors, the tightness of the interior, the smell of leather, then I observed the wing going up... HOOKED at this point... !!! Told him if he ever went to sell it, it was MINE!
Bought it six months later.

At the end of last year, I needed a car of my own (had been driving my dad's company vehicles) and wanted to pay for it myself. I really wanted a German made coupe, and almost bought a 1961 Mercedes 220se coupe in great condition. It would be my daily driver which made me think it over a little longer and by the time I went to make an offer on the car, it was sold.

I then looked at the Z4's and the 328xi coupe. My whole life's savings amounted to just over $18,000, and was about to graduate college, so the BMW's were too expensive. I remembered seeing the Crossfire's when they first came out and thought they were great, but could not afford one. I searched ebay one night and found a new '07 6 speed Crossfire coupe 40 miles away at a Chrysler dealership and they were asking $20,000. The next morning I let my dad call and make a lower offer (he is the ultimate negotiator), and they called back a couple of hours later to say it was mine if I wanted it. Sight unseen, I put a deposit on it and it sat on the lot for another 2 weeks because my CD had not matured yet. When I finally was able to get to the dealership, and sat in my car that I purchased, I immediately fell in love with the car and could not believe that I owned it (and still can't 9 months later).

So was it worth spending every penny that I had on the Crossfire?...Absolutely.

I got to sit in the prototype back in 2003 and fell in lust with it.
fast forward
Then I drove one that belonged to one of my customers and fell in love with it.
Two weeks later I had one of my own.
I bought an 04 leftover in 05 and I am still in lust and love with it!

i've owned more cars than my age (48). however, this was/is the only car i've ever felt really connected to when i drive it (no ferraris or lambos yet, though. i've heard upkeep is a *****/no fun). it's the perfect car for me. half price made it all the sweeter so, i bought two.

mar 17,08...saw it on a lot next to a 07 base roadster. Didnt know anything about the cars but I knew I wanted the one with fog lights (both were red). the next day I test drove it in the rain it felt tight ,fun and the blind spot issue didnt matter. Drove by work to show my wife and got the green light.

Honestly, the wow factor wore off about a month later as I was discovering how expensive it is to mod the car and limited aftermarket goodies. But that has changed and caused me to think & plan harder about setting her apart from the rest. Now Im really blessed to own one
