What made you buy your Crossfire
What attracted me were the sleek lines, the boat-tail rear end, the large wheels , glass rear window, interior and the fact it was built by Mercedes.
This was the best bang for my buck in terms of quality used sports cars.
I' look for somewhat rare and less mainstream quality vehicles..
Okay i know I'm opening myseklf up however, I like to be different

I thought this thread needed a bump.
Here is my story....
I first saw one on the expressway heading west out of Chicago doing a high rate of speedack in 2004. All black under the night lights and going fast.
It looked awesome !!!I caught up to the guy and saw the name on the back. "CROSSFIRE" In a second he was gone again and that was the last time I saw that Crossfire. Earlier this year I went online looking for a
sportscar and there it was. A low mile SSB 2004 Coupe for a price I couldn't let go.
I bought it in April this year and have already driven it 9000 miles.
I have had more than 20 cars in my life and nothing has made me happier than this Crossfire. I really don't ever intend to let it go.

I guess ill write another...
I always had a love for Mercedes and AMG in particular, but could never get over their conforming design and lack of exclusivity not counting the more expensive models like SLR and CLK-Black Series, but the crossfire has all the good things of Mercedes-AMG and the British//American design...
To me a crossfire is very much a rebel's car it does not fit in with the German Crowd, it does not fit in with American Crowd.. and anywhere you go with it.. you almost look out of place.. you get no support from either company either.. while everyone else is spending 50k to buy such cars as corvettes, BMWs, Porsches, we say **** that and buy something completly different and yet we get all the attention and not them..
Wait a few more years and the crossfire will be competly gone... I take pride in that as well...
Would I trade my crossfire for any car under 75k? Nope...

I fell in love with the SRT-6 and its go kart like abilities and fun back in early 2006. I had just bought my second SRT-4 and the SRT Track Experience was included in the price of the car. I went and did my day at the track and beat the hell out of a SRT-6 on the road course and couldn't believe the power that was hiding under the finely sculpted hood. I knew one day I would buy one and that came true two months ago.
On June 28th 2003 I was at a Maryland Chrysler dealership trading my Pt Cruiser Ltd for a GT Cruiser. I had never seen or heard of the Crossfire. As I was waiting to hear if my offer was accepted I wandered around the showroom and sitting there was probably one of the most beautiful cars I'd ever seen. It had a window sticker on it that said $37,000 FIRM. "Would you like to sit in it?" Duh.....I fell in love with the car but no way I could afford it, no way I could explain that to my wife other than the fact that back then the Crossfire came with Louis Vittan custom fit luggage. That might be a selling point I thought! I drove home in my new GT Cruiser but I never forgot the Crossfire. Over the course of the next few years it kept gnawing at me, I had to have a Crossfire. In the fall of 2004 I started "shopping". No one would cut me a deal. It broke my heart because the more I saw the car the more I wanted one.
Finally in July of 2005 one of my kids friends became a salesman at a Chrysler dealership in Rockville. He made a deal I couldn't walk away from. Normally at the two year mark I am looking at what is next. I can happily say this car is a keeper. I just got a set of wheels for it and I can't wait til spring to put them on.
A side note. I've owned 4 Z cars and a Corvette and a few other high performance vehicles. I didn't buy the car for the power although it does pretty well in that department...I bought it because its one of the most unique, beautiful cars on the road. Almost 3 years into it and I still have people stopping me and asking about it. By the way last fall we bought a 2004 C240 and you can really tell the Mercedes touches in the Crossfire, the engines even look identical except for the covers. Great car and so much fun to own!

My crossfire has been with me for 3+ years. I am not a new member. Didn't notice this thread in 2005 either.
Let see...
I got off from a bus walking towards my office. I passed by an opened space parking lot. Something caught my attention. I've never seen it before. It was right there. The body beautiful crossfire...mysteriously black...mesmerizing... intermidated me......I walked to side view...then rear view...my heartbeat accelerated...the profile...I just couldn't let it go...took me about 10 minutes, I fell in love. I have to have it...I must have it.
Inquired and discovered that was the first in town. Studied it and worked effortlessly on owning it. Have to mention again...it was hardwork even to eventually run my fingers along it. It was my first car.
Couped safely in it...embraced by it...experiences driving it...the oohhs and aahhs is totally another different story.
But both...with satisfaction
Thank you for bumping this up.

I was driving home from work back in 2004, secure in the thought that when the day came, my next car would be a 350 ZX. And then I saw a Crossfire drive by. My eyes popped out of my head despite a fleeting glimpse. The only recognizable thing I saw was the Chrysler winged emblem. As soon as I got home, I went to Chrysler's website and checked it out. I knew this car was for me. A year later..... here I am!
I have admired the Crossfire since I first saw it on Chrysler's website a a long time ago and really wanted one when I first saw a coupe on the way to Colorado Springs. It's styling is quite unique, not to mention the limited production.
I test drove a coupe over two years ago and the comptroller (wife) said NO. Since I like peace in my household, I always let the wookie (Star Wars reference) win.
Fast forward to February 2008. My wife and I are at lunch and the Chrysler dealership was right across the street and of course they had a few XF's out front. I test drove a red coupe and it was all over after that. The wife gave in. I changed over to a roadster later in 2008 and have no regrets.
I guess the main thing about the car I like is that I get so many looks from people when I drive around town. It is hard to say if they are wondering what it is and hopefully not "why are you driving that?" look.

Valkryderguy, you da man for bringing this thread back to life. I got my 2008 LTD in November of 2008. Reading the stories of those who bought much earlier, when I didn't even know what a Crossfire was, was incredible. Loved reading all those stories. THanks.
I bought this car because i have a SLK 32 amg and was looking at trading in my srt-4, and said to myself what better car to trade my srt-4 with than a srt-6. the next day i bought it! now i have a SLK 32 and a SRT-6! couldnt be happier
I never drove my car or seen it until i owned it bought it because not many people know what it is much less have one. jim
The crossfire had caught my eye here or there for awhile but I never actually did any reading on it. My daily driver got t-boned when someone ran a red light at 40mph and was totalled. I got a rental for about a week while I looked for a new car visited a couple of lots and was going to pickup an alero as my new dd for cheap and heading out to the dealership I saw a kid that must have been 16-17 head bopping with his windows rolled down in a crossfire which about made me sick. I got to the dealership and they didn't have the car on the lot anymore so they'd have to transfer it and I had noticed an alabaster white out front row in the lot. Said what the heck and went to take a look at it. Opened the door and saw the red interior and I was hooked right there and then. After the test drive on I-65 I was in heaven. I told myself I deserved it and haven't ever regretted it since.
If I ever have to be reminded of how much fun the crossfire is I think back to a couple of months after I got mine. I was driving on the interstate back to my office from Nashville and noticed a red crossfire zooming up behind me in the lane to my right. As he came up beside me I looked over mostly just to watch it pass but to my surprise it had slowed down just to match my speed in traffic so we could share a head nod.
Much respect Crossfire Owners.

It was too late when she found out it was a 6 speed and cannot drive a standard. She has not had any offers to teach her either.
