T.C. You are aware of the Cadillac XLR-V aren't you? Or do you require the FWD capabilities of the Allante?

Yes, I am aware of the Caddy convertible but the price was a killer and it is rough riding. Anyway I already have the Crossfire for fun driving.

Thanks

I just wondered which rental company did you use that provided you the Crossfire. I will be traveling to South Padre Island , Texas the week after Thanksgiving and I thought it would be cool to rent another Crossfire for vacation while mine sits home in the garage resting for the week.
It was Dollar Rent A Car out of Pittsburgh - Already up to 4,000 miles and still smiling

I was looking for a BMW or Corvette and saw my Xfire on the lot. I knew nothing about the car but the lines of it were just amazing. I asked the salesman for the key and was impressed by the quality of the components. What really sold me is when I closed the back hatch and it sounded like a vault door closing, you could hear the quality. I only drove it for a short distance and I was sold (it did take me about 5 minutes to figure out how to back up). I have had my car for a year now and I have had more fun in it than any car I have owned. I also have never owned a car that had a forum like this to support it. The fact that there are so many people to help with any question you have makes paying $180 for an oil change worth it. I was able to participate in the Tail of the Dragon ride and I can say I did not see another Crossfire from Myrtle Beach to the Mountains and back. It really gets the attention on the road it deserves.

after my boxster not really living up to expectations i wanted something that was different from the norm, saw this advertised in a local dealer and bought it same day, you seem to pay low prices for your car in the usa, i got mine for £13990 on a 2006 plate reg sept(only 14 months old) and believe me over hear that was a bargain.

areo blue pearl 2006 , auto 3.2 v6 19000miles on the clock and mint

just coverted my £13990 to us dollars and comes out to $28,000

how much are they new over there ?

about $19,000 if you know what you're doing now ... can be as high as $22,000 on the limited mattering on the part of the US ... cars are cheaper in the south east and much more expensive in the north east for example.

I liked the xfire the first time I saw the concept. Although I like the concepts nose a little better. I originally looked in '04 but the car did not have enough power for me. I bought another DD as I put my '93 RX7 TT up for rebuild. It has been a slow process, you cannot find anybody competent to fix them. I am now doing my own complete rebuild from the chassis up. The only thing I will not do is the paint. Anyway, I found an SRT6 at a local dealer. This car is the only thing I have driven to date, that makes me feel as good driving it as the RX. It handles slightly less due it being 400 pounds heavier, but the power is wonderful. The looks are unique and you see very few.

Thumbs up Re: Why did you choose the Crossfire?

I walked into the dealer showroom and on the floor was a special edition in resale red and the top comes down. The car is incredibly beautiful. Drove it and bought it. Never looked back. I have rust proofed in detail, added windblocker with illumination, installed leather seats with power and heat. Installed clear stoneguard on front. Installed Karmann badge...No one will perform any maintenance or repair but me...It's mine.

I just took delivery of my '04 Crossfire limited coupe a week ago. Its silver sapphire blue, auto with 17K on it. First I must say that I am in love with my crossfire. I have always loved the way they looked and that motivated me to try one out a year ago. I drove a base version with a 6-speed manual. It had the cloth seats that were manually adjustable. If you have ever tried to adjust the manually adjustable seat it takes some getting used to. I wasn’t able to get it set up right and as a consequence it was not very comfortable. I would have been willing to chalk that up to not being able to set it up right and would have purchased the car. Unfortunately though I was trading my '01 Cadillac STS in and the dealer offered me a laughable trade in for it. I think it was something like $2,500. The STS did have 125k on it but still. I am not going to get hosed on the deal. I wanted to get something with better gas mileage that was sporty so I continued looking and ended up buying a '06 Scion TC in December of last year. Of course I got a stick shift. Now my girlfriend doesn’t know how to drive a stick shift and I am thinking she will learn. How wrong I was!!! She refused to drive my Scion and that made going out (drinking) and road trips complicated. To make things worse I didn’t really like the TC very much after owning it for a few months. After driving it through most of this year I needed a new set of tires for it and that was enough of a reason to take a look around and see if it might be better to just save the $600 the tires would cost and get rid of it for another car. I looked on Autotrader on a whim while I was pricing the tires and there was my Crossfire at a dealer right around the corner from my house. It was an automatic with manual shifting (girlfriend happy, I am happy) had only 17,000 miles (less than the base model I had looked at a year earlier) they gave me a great deal on my trade and a great price on the crossfire too (much less than the base version from last year). It has leather and electric adjustable seats (now very comfortable) and the car had the Continental all season tires so I don’t need to spend any money on new rubber.

All is well that ends well. Loving my new Crossfire. And they lived happily ever after...

You need an LS1 in your FD.

I chose mine because of value for the money. I always wanted a Mercedes Benz (or BMW) but felt they were over priced. I needed a daily driver and instead of buying a new Mustang V6 I bought my previously owned Crossfire.

I was seriously considering a new Mustang V6 before I bought my previously owned XF.

I'm sure you can get one from VW, they had them in the Corrado on the shifter cover/center console.

...one night close on a oil righ in north sea i was looking to buy a new car... sorry... second hand new car ... a sports one..
4 ideas...
S2000 amazing, funny... 9,000 rpm, no electronic control VTEC!!!... BUT! quite hard to find with low kilometers and if they have not done maintenence in Honda.. quite dangerous..
Mazda. RX8. 4 seats, good car, similar to S2000... but gasoline adicted! (in italy now gasoline is around $2 dollars for liter).
Xfire: saw once when jammed in the traffic... falled in love!
350Z: Japanese sport car... Have one for a full day to try... FANTASTIC...
So at the end I was buying the 350... but the day before i found a crossfire, few kilometers, good price... I went to see it! when it came out from the garage... No way! It was stunning... different from everithing you can see on a road.
Maybe is not the same of 350 how performance but also not to far ... BUT!!! is the right balance between performance, confort and price... I drove it for 6,000 km (in 4 weeks) this summer during my holiday with my girlfriend and luggages... trip of 900 km in one day... Non problem to my back!
I'm happy to have it...
I was the first in my city... yesterday I was talking with my father and he told me that now there are 2 more xfire! (I'll check when I'll back home from Abu Dhabi,)

Ciao

I have loved the Crossfire ever I since I worked on the original concept car. The std crossfires are too slow. When I found the deal on my SRT6 earlier year I could not pass it up.

Yeah I know they wont be cheap but I dont mind the expense when it's for a car I love. Would you want to sink more money into a car you didn't like or want to keep?
