What did you do to your Crossfire today?
Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?
I'm thinking of expanding my "fleet" and while another Crossfire would be nice to have, I'm leaning towards the purchase of a BMW product with relatively low mileage. The wife thinks the BMW 1 Series is "cute" (I hate that depiction!), but those cars are sporty & only come as 2-doors which we prefer. Prices are sort of aligned with what I can get a Crossfire for & would be serviceable by the local BMW dealer in my area (if &/or when required). Got my eye on a couple.
I got 33 MPG on the 120 mile drive back home from the dealer
( The 8 speed automatic is also really smooth )

Oh, btw, it is the CRP123E model.
Well, not sure what is going on with this thing but it will not finish the scan. Tried all sorts of vehicles (170 left steering, right, and 171 left steering, right). Am thinking of 'deleting' the MB software and reinstalling it. Talk about frustrated...
Has anyone tried the 'sprinter' section? It has the same SKREEM. Am trying to get the ABS light resets. Lost in space here...

I've been trying to learn how to wrap. This is a Vvivid brand from Amazon, there's a lot of good YouTubes for DIY'ers. The carbon fiber texture helped to conceal a couple of rock chips I had and I also think it blends better with black then the original silver. Also did "Light Smoke" vinyl on the taillights.
Old guys are allowed a little fun. My son-in-law calls it having "Street Cred"?

Thank you.
The quality of vinyl wrap they make these days (in Canada and the U.S.) is pretty amazing. It's a dry application with air-release built into the vinyl, not to difficult and a lot of great YouTubes on how to-.

That generation of 5/6 series vehicles (F06/F10/F11/F12/F13) lie 'in the next generation' of cars from the Crossfire. 8spd trans, variable valve timing, stop/start, on-screen nav., etc. Although I like 2000's tech I do try to own cars that don't yet have a parts-supply problem! Ever since the 2nd vehicle in/of my life-time I've NEVER BOUGHT A CAR WHEN I NEEDED A CAR. People think I'm a little strange doing things that way, but it makes car-shopping enjoyable instead of stressful and I always end up with a vehicle I really like instead of feeling that I settled for something. I bought the Xfire 1 month before my pickup got a significant leak in the front-engine cover requiring it to live on a steady diet of Bars Leaks, and although it still will sally-forth on every rainy day (keeping the Xfire eternally clean!) I don't trust it enough to go out of town in, which means I am beginning my search for a true equal-partner for the Xfire. I'm a sucker for "fancy-schmancy" interiors (hence my purchase of a 'tuxedo' Xfire), and 'your' generation of 6-series has some truly outstanding 2-tone all-leather interiors, but I'll only be considering 640's and NOT any BMW V8s, thank you very much! You know the ENGINE difference between a 535i & a 640i? .6 bar VS .8 bar of boost. Yep.

The "Velocity Garage" guy, AKA 'the Car Ninja', said, "If you MUST make the mistake of buying a BMW at least get a six cylinder." There was no punchline. He was dead serious.

I bet now you're even happier you have an N55 inline-6!
Earlier in the video he ragged on the 2.0L turbo-4 BMW engine as well.
Seems the only decent engine BMW makes is the 6!
Jump to 5:40 to hear him talk about the V-8.

Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?
I started my car today and no trouble, started up right away and sounded fine.
Now for some rain to wash away any salt left on the road and maybe I’ll get the odometer to go past 40,000 miles this year, I was expecting that last year but I did less than 400 miles on it.☹️
Now I want a warmish day to wash and maybe, just maybe, polish it.
