It's hard enough for me to get one Crossfire ready for the track, I can't imagine trying to sort two out.

 

It doesn't help to want everything perfect either but we are really close now. We will get there this summer. I have to be done and ready for the 1/2 mile thing in June. Are you going to try the 1/2 with the new setup?

 

I'll probably run a 75 shot in Clayton this September, but I doubt I'll go any larger. Safety first.

 

Hadn't driven it in a while, took it out to lunch with my girl and it left me stranded on a street with a 60MPH limit. I was stopped in the left lane and people were whizzing around me, kind of scary.

Finally started back up and limped it home. Got the new crankshaft position sensor, installed it and went for a drive. Got a few blocks away from home and it died but would not restart. An hour later, got it restarted and back into the garage.

Fun.

I inadvertently discovered the correct position for the lower gear shift lever locking collar....after futzing around unsuccessfully trying to get my shift **** off I must have bumped it into the wrong position - there's two detents, one which holds the locking pin in place, the other doesn't. I ended up reversing in the parking lot at work holding my gear shifter **** with the shaft, the leather boot and the lower rubber boot in my hand! Talk about embarrassed!! But everything happens for a reason - I was then able to take the whole assembly to my vice to get the shift **** off...turns out that a previous owner had glued the frickin' thing on!! No wonder I couldn't budge it while it was attached to the car. Replacement **** on hand now installed sans glue. All I need now is a replacement leather boot, which is the reason I was futzing with it in the first place.

 

Hey LilDaddym, I tested the system on a flat level (checked) surface with my topsider. I clipped the tip of the hose on @ a 45* angle and then cut the bottom half of the point flat. I then sucked out everything I could (in no hurry and let it drain for over 20 minutes continually sucking off and on), and then jacked up the drivers side and drained what was left in a 11-1/2 oz campbells soup can. There was very little (I wrote something in the forum mid last year about it) and it (if I remember right) less than 1 oz in that can. I had the can in a larger pan but none spilled outside the soup can. I had it jacked pretty good you could tell it was fully towards the drain plug. So, it drained for quite a while, sucked as indicated, jacked to flow to the drainhole, and only got very little out. I'll not need to remove that drain plug again for quite a number of years, for sure!

It pulled another crankshaft position sensor code, so I am hoping that maybe I just got a faulty part.

I am going to change it out sometime soon and see what she does.

 

I changed my CPS a few years ago and the new one was worse. So, I ordered a Bosch, reinstalled the original sensor with a little dielectric grease and the original is still in there and the new one is in the closet. I think many times the problem is the connection and not the sensor.

Took my drivers side headlight out...fixin to do the Angel Eyes mod on it. Actually, since I started on this, I've decided to change all my bulbs to LED and HIDs for the lows on the headlights. Wish me luck! (what I lack in skill, I make up for in patience...I hope)

Installed the "Show and go" license plate mount. Installed K&N air filters. The paper ones were REALLY bad. Pulled plastic pan for 1st oil change tomorrow.

 

I did the red LED's in the dome and hooked up some red LED strip lights in the back ( just popped the tiny useless light on the back side and spliced in, took the bulb out and popped her back. The wires tucked in real nice along the trim) I do half my driving at night as for the color. Won't mess up my night vision now and it does look pretty cool. I'd put up some pics if I knew how... Total cost under $40

 

I drove my daughter in the Crossfire to her mother's (my ex-wife) funeral. I was starting to install the angel eyes on the drivers side, but my work got put on the back burner, because I had to take my ex to the hospital, eleven days later she died. I've been driving my car around without the grille and headlight because, between going to the hospital and being there for my daughter I haven't had time to finish it. My son in-law calls my car the "one eyed jack". For those in the forum who believe in the power of prayer, please pray for my daughter that she is strong during her time of grieving, thank you.

My prayers are certainly with your family and especially your daughter coolx.

Today I pulled the weather stripping from the bottom of my doors to check for rust. It's not rust free but it looks pretty good, the passenger side has a little bit right in the middle of the door. The drivers side had the worst spot with some flaking at the door jam side right were it curves around the bottom. Cleaned both sides really well and scrapped the worst off, then I applied two coats of 3m rust converter, after everything was dry I masked the area and sprayed a good coat of spray bedliner all along the bottom of both doors. I will keep an eye on it, hopefully it does the trick.
