My brother and I took our roadsters to a local show yesterday evening and while we were there he noticed neither of our cars had under hood pads. So now of course I am wondering if the base xf's came with a pad or is mine missing in action?

My 2008 came with the pad but it rubs slightly on the engine cover front leaving a black-ish smudge on the front of the cover.

 

"Base models" Didn't come with a hood pad..

There is a very nice custom aftermarket one available. Check my gallery out.

 

Mine had one originally but sometime before I got it, it was removed. Probably when the front end was repaired from a minor collision.

** Update: Dang it. I didn't look at his storefront but he's not taking orders right now because of medical reasons.

 

I removed mine about six weeks ago as it was starting to droop on the engine bay. I'm happy to have it gone to be honest. I seem to remember that some Crossfires did not have the area under the hood pad fully painted. Mine does.

The Pad still looks new and has not rubbed any item under the hood. Did change the Crossfire logo to green.

 

I live in Arizona and I was wondering if it was still safe to remove this even with the high temps here.

 

I think it was intended more for sound dampening than anything else. removing it should have little to no effect on underhood temps.

Looking to replace my hood insulation pad since it's creating a smudge on my engine cover. If anyone can point me to a place that has a great price on this item would be very helpful.
I'm in Los Angeles California btw. Looking forward to becoming more active in this forum as i absolutely enjoy my 2008 Chrysler Crossfire.

rontive08, don't want to rain on the parade and hopefully someone may still have some information on the underhood pad availability,etc, but you do realize you are posting to a 6 yr old thread i hope.

 

Many questions we have must be posted to older threads since there's nothing else. I'm now replying to a 3 year old thread. LOL

 

i think it makes a big difference in noise dampening. mine is absolutely silent. and also think that is the purpose of it, so depends on what you want. some want a sports car noisy. i dont, so am happy with it.
