Leaving key in the ignition 24/7
I have a solution to my sticky key problem until Mark has time to help me with the fix. Leaving the key in the ignition 24/7.
I notice after I turn the key the first time then it never sticks again until pulling it back out the reinserting and turning again. Not sure why it is like this but as long as I leave the key in the ignition after the first turn it never sticks and you can turn it off and on very easy like butter. I have 2 remotes and lots of insurance and really never leave it anywhere where theft is likely. Has anybody else noticed the key sticking only on the first turn?

This is because, when you remove the key, the plunger activates to lock the wheel - that is, the plunger extends. When you then put it back in and turn it, you are pulling the locking plunger back out of the column, and it is in the extended position that it locks up.
Ok Thanks. Just wanted to be sure I didn't have a lock tumbler issue. Guess I will be leaving the key in the ignition for the time being. Hope you project comes together for you.
Better check the "lot's of insurance" and see if you are covered for theft if it is determined that you left the key in the ignition .....
Yep for sure. But they have to find the car with the key fob in it. I don't go anywhere where I am worried about it. I could leave it running and be comfortable around here.
@pjm30144 you can try it out yourself its very easy. There's guide with pictures which you can follow. Takes about half an hour to an hour to wrap everything up. I was scared to do it myself but once I started it .. it wasn't too scary at all.
Yeah its all about where you live. Couldn't do it here. LOL
Isn't there a concern about draining the battery?
As i understand it, the car is recognizing the key when it is in the ignition. A small drain but a drain none theless.
