Crossfire Modifications
I'm brand new to this forum. I belong to several similar forums because of the variety of cars that I own, but this site is unique (at least to me) in that I have noticed that most owners and members not only list what car they own, but also list ALL of the modifications that they have done to their car(s) as if that were an expected activity for any Crossfire owner. I certainly have nothing against performance and appearance modifications, but to see them listed for most owner's cars is surprising to me. Is this just something that permeates most Crossfire owner's thinking, or is there some real advantage to have the modifications on each car listed? I guess I am just trying to understand what makes fellow X-fire owners tick!
If you mod the car and don't talk about it - the mod doesn't work.
The car is like a woman, if you don't brag about her, she won't 'work' for you.
(The one thing I know more than my car, is women!)

Carjock, this site is like no other. I too belong to a number of car forums. The Crossfire brings this out of us. I guess it's the uniqueness of the car, the fact that most mods have been developed by some very sharp guys here, or we championed mods with companies capable of producing them. Just go along, trust me on this one.
Pizza, I wouldn't be bragging too much about this. You're not batting 1000....
OK. But just what are all these mods that have been developed and what will they do for my car? I come from the "school of originality" that permeates classic car restoration circles. I guess I will have to learn to adapt? Would dropping a 700 HP Shelby Mustang drivetrain into the car be a notable thing?
It would be an impossible thing.
Anyway, remember that there are two sets of standard performance mods:
1) Those for the N/A's. (CAI, Tune)
2) Those for the SRTs. (CAI, Charger Pulley, Tune)
Then, there are the enhancement mods, which also vary a bit between the two cars. (Lowering kits, sprint booster, caster/camber kits, aftermarket exhaust and cat deletes, sound system mods and upgrades....)
Which car do you have and what do you want to do with it?
Of course, there HAVE been a handful of us who have put bigger, better Mercedes/AMG engines in our cars - but those projects are a whole different story!
Ok, done editing - you can read my post now.

I appreciate keeping classics stock. I have a 56 Tbird, 54 F100, and 56 VW Sedan that I will only keep as originals, but this car hasn't reached that status yet.

If they could put a 427 Ford side-oiler in an AC Bristol (to make the Shelby AC Cobra), I bet I could figure out a way to drop a "super engine" into this little Crossfire! It would require a complete remake of the car, but the body skin could probably be salvaged. What a machine that would be. LOL!

Boy, this forum is unlike any others that I have frequented.....how refreshing!! But alas, as old as I am and as much car hobby experience that I have, I need to learn the lingo here. I have never had any involvement with a Crossfire at all (except liking them) and need some term definitions. I know what an SRT6 is, but what does N/A mean? I assume that my Limited is an N/A? And it sounds like the mods that are described here are mostly performance oriented? Are there any modifications that really should be done to a totally stock Crossfire because of poor original design or particular reliability problems? And above all, I have no problem whatsoever with others posting the mods they have made to their cars....it is just something I have not experienced on other forums!! I guess I need to read some older threads to get "caught up".

1, Sticky ignition fix.
2, RCM re soldering.
3, Check for water leaks into the trunk right hand well under the foam, they can ruin the security locking pump.
They may have been done but better be safe than sorry.
Thanks, onehundred80. But this is where I fall down....I don't know what you mean by "sticky ignition problem" (mine seems to work fine) or what an "RCM" is (I assume it is some sort of control module?). I do understand about water in the trunk....where does it usually leak from and what are the primary things to look for? (Told you I was from a different planet!). I'll get on those once I understand what it is I'm doing. Thanks.

We should have Bigkid posting with his laundry list...lol. Carjock, we are here to help you in anyway... Follow some of 180's suggestions. I haven't had a problem with my key or my RCM (Relay Control Module) yet, but it is just a matter of time. The trunk leak, if you have the roadster, which is what I understand you have, usually leaks around where the spoiler bolts onto the trunk. The gaskets are bad around the spoiler bolts. Plenty to read and learn, but you can ask as well. We will have on occasion, CPS (crankshaft position sensor) go bad causing starting/idling problems. Like I said, plenty to learn.
My advice:
1) Sticky Ignition Key Fix - DO IT NOW.
2) Then, order a spare BOSCH Crank Position Sensor and keep it in the trunk.
The RCM resolder is a good idea as well, as is looking for water intrusion.
Many happy miles to you!

Yes exactly; All BigKid needs to put in his signature is "Everything!" lol. CarJock, If you're like a lot of us here; you'll need to start saving Mod bucks.
I propose a contest, whose car is more modded?
Bigkid's Cool Coupe
Howard's Aero Blue SRT6 Roadster (That I had a chance to drive down Hellbender on New Year's Day 2014
) (Thanks to the present owner, Jeff from SC)
I've never been in Kid's car, but Howard's Roadster is simply modded to all hell! That car is beyond awesome.

NO MARK, you need to ride with JIM.... I would have to think the two JIM's win in the MOD department. Next fall, you ride with JIM and I will put your GO PRO on my hood and follow... Give you some real footage to look at....
My vote would go to Jim (amx1397), and let's not forget Anthony (Grip Grip)! The time slips speak for themselves.
