Default Good bye Crossfire

It's been a fun 6 six years, but I've traded in the crossfire.

Good Bye!

Thanks everyone.

Already having lots of fun with the GTI. Had a little bit of snow 2 days ago, and it was fun driving in the snow.

Who knows, maybe I'll get another XF down the road. Hopefully one with less issues.

For us "sporty-car" challenged folks, what is a GTI?

I must admit it boggles my mind that someone would go from a XF to a VW 5-door family car. Okay, 'sporting' family car....but still...

A Volkswagen, a 3 or 5 door sporty hatch, they are nice minus the FWD.

It's a Volkswagen. Just google "Volkswagen GTI"

I got the 2 door hatchback. Almost even swap and no noticeable issues with the GTI. (Knock on wood)

The XF was my DD, I was currently dealing with:
#1 steering issues - Wanders the road, sudden pull to either direction. Not too bad going below 30mph, but who really drives the XF at those speeds? Really noticeable around 40mph, dangerous at 70mph, reckless at 90mph and digging a grave above that. replaced steering stabilizer, inner/outer wheel bearings, lower ball joint, outer tie rod, inner tie rods, torqued all bolts/nuts I could find, it wasn't the tires, My guess would be the steering box itself???
#2 bad catalytic converters - live in state where no one will chop it up and weld new ones on
#3 idle issues - probably vac leak, couldn't find it
#4 fuel issues - did leak down test, rails held pressure, pressure dropped to zero almost immediately so it pointed to filter/regulator - replaced 3 times different brands even ordered from needswing. Also replaced the pump, even added a one way check value between the pump and filter/regulator. Still doesn't start up without turning the key to on and letting the pump primp the system before starting.
#5 Bad blower motor resistor and/or control module - random speeds
#6 the breather covers on the valve covers started leaking
#7 rear differential whine - second differential that was replaced under warranty before that expired and it's whining again.
#8 transmission - sometimes would get stuck in a gear, wont go to next gear even past 4500 rpm, not going peddle to the metal, not doing the manual mode, it's on "D", it says "D" on the cluster, let go of the gas a little and still wont go next gear. Recently checked the transmission fluid level and looks like there was some coolant mixed in it. Last time I checked, it was red, now it's a weird greenish/yellowish/orange color. The coolant reservoir was still full. Last week, trying to make a u turn, Turned half way into a driveway, threw it in reverse and it wouldn't do anything, threw it back into drive still wouldn't do anything. A couple more times back and forth and all the way back to Park then it finally decide to go.

Felt like the XF put me on the ramen diet. haha I've just been fixing one thing after another since I got it. Even the water pump went out at 74379. Been putting off on trading in for almost 3 yrs but #8 made up my mind. Had 78943 miles on it. They gave me more than KBB value and my insurance is lower so I'm happy with it.

I do miss the XF, even though it's only been 4 days.

The GTI is a nice car. The R32 is a AWD screamer.
