It is more complicated then unplugging a box and plugging a new one in. Airbags may not deploy with battery disconnected but may deploy when you plug it back in. Plus, god forbid a passenger tries to sue me because their airbag didn't deploy. When it comes to computers and sensitive safety devices I would rather let the dealership handle it. Just my way of thinking.

As for extended warranty, look at my old threads going back years. I did a lot of work under warranty. Recirc flap on the ac broke (a piece of plastic), sticky ignition. Window water leaks fixed. Even the ac turning on and off like a ghost. That was an 800 dollar part I had to replace twice with warranty. I even had both headlights replaced for free. Never got my hands dirty. Never had to take my dash apart myself. Extended warranty on my car was money well spent and I got my money back plus more.

Let me ask you a question... Did you buy another crossfire yet? Last I checked you sold yours to buy a Mercedes.

But $3,000 saved over 5 years is much better.

I've had mine 4 years now and spent $10 on the tranny connector leak........ but probably $3000 in mod parts LOL.

Everybody's car is different. I seemed to do more repairs when it was my daily driver. Now it is a garage queen and never gives me a hard time. Either that or I just worked out all the bugs from the start.

Parts on our cars are expensive. You can always get a Mercedes part cheaper but even that is expensive. I can get parts on my jeep Cherokee or Honda civic real cheap. Plus you can get aftermarket. I think I paid 100 dollars for a brand new set of headlights made in china for my jeep. I haven't checked the prices on crossfire headlights lately but I know you can't get a brand new set for 100.

It's okay if you're afraid that your airbag is going to go off in your face due to you being incompetent and failed to unplug the battery before you started. By all means get a professional to do it exactly the same way others have told you to do it. Why trust people who have owned these things and have a wealth of knowledge about these things. After all you've mention multiple times how much you love the people at your dealership. Now kindly answer my question. Have you or have you not fixed your airbag issue under warranty? If I remember correctly you were having trouble getting them to pay for it.

You asked, Did you buy another crossfire yet? My reply is nope.

Why are you up in my business. Are you keeping repair records on my car? Are you stalking my car or something? You are one strange dude!

Just trying to point out that just because you have a warranty doesn't mean you'll get it fixed. You have to wade through bullshit to get a dealer to honor the warranty they sold you. I guess I'm right and you haven't been able to get your problem fixed.

re Bentley - if you have to ask... Did hear once that if something breaks they fly a mechanic to you.

Personally I can save even more because I bought a lift.

Would have considered a Chrysler Service Contract (can see on Chrysler owner's page) but had over 100k when I bought it.

That depends on the model. The normal GT's and Arnages don't get that kind of treatment. But they will flatbed the car to the dealer for you.

You obviously don't know anything about max care warranties through Chrysler. They cover a lot, including the airbag. Most of my repairs were done using the max care. No bull from the dealerships. Just pay the 50 dollar deductible and they just fix it. That is why I bought it twice in the 9 years of owning the car. I used the heck out of the first one and decided the second warranty was worth the money. But in order for you to know more about the Chrysler max care warranty you would need to actually own a crossfire first.

I've actually owned 3 crossfires, and still continue to get mail regarding chrysler warranties. But since it's so easy to get something fixed why haven't you fixed your airbag?

I don't care if you owned 10 of them in your lifetime and still get junk mail from Chrysler. I have owned my crossfire for the past nine years and counting. I had two max care warranties and used them so I know what I am talking about.

I was quoted 3 different prices for the Chrysler aftermarket warranty bumper to bumper with a $100.00 deductible. There is a Chrysler dealer by me with a Crossfire Certified mechanic. I am not mechanically inclined and do not have the time nor space to fix the cars myself so I am contemplating getting the warranty.
$1980 3 36
$2520 4 48
$3070 5-60
I have always gotten aftermarket warranties with the cars that I have bought and they have paid off even though I was given a hard time on some of the claims. I always bought an exclusionary policy.

Extended warranty. I had a close friend who sold warranty's to dealerships. He gets a commission for selling them. The dealership gets a commission for selling to you and you get screwed if you don't read it first. It's like buying a major medical policy. It usually only covers the catastrophic things. But if it makes you sleep at night by all means buy one.

I bought my 05 Srt6 new from a dealer in 08. When the factory warranty ran out, I purchased a factory extended warranty which runs out next year. I haven't done any major mods because of that. I have 22k on the clock and I probably won't renew so I can go mod crazy without having to spend a day hiding everything and replacing parts if I have to go in to the dealer for warranty work. If it wasn't for that I would get another warranty. Look online, dealers have way different prices for these things. I didn't buy mine from the dealer that sold me the car. I got it way cheaper from another Chrysler dealer on the net.

The car has a cold air intake and tune with a pulley. Are you saying that before taking it in for any repair I should put on the stock air intake?
