Default Time for another extended warranty

Anyone else keeping a extended warranty on their car? Time for another warranty. Thinking about 4 year 60,000 maximum care, about $3500. From past repairs, I'm sure I'll come out ahead.

That is pricey. I paid 2,600 and I felt that was too much. Try shopping around at your local dealerships. They can give you a better price.

Some of you guys just have really bad experience with these cars. With the V6, I changed the oil and that's it...

I had one on my first NA when it was new, it cost $1,300 at dealer cost as my wife worked there. I got it because it was a new car and I did not know what could go wrong after the regular warranty ran out. I got a new rear tire and 10 free oil changes out of it. It was basically a gold plated warranty.
I would NOT get one again. Apart from maintenance and parts I wanted to put on the car, I purchased two headlight bulbs and $1 for ten diodes (only one required) to fix the seat relay.
I think the regular tire hazard warranty had ran out, frankly I'm not sure if there was one though.

Keep pricing it. You will get better. I have two warranties over the 9 years of ownership (max care). Used the hell out if them. Got my money back and then some.

my warranty is about to run out and only used it for valve cover gasket and lubing the roof with 21000 miles on it. the more i read about the number of problems you all have it seems to make sense to sell now before all the problems start. My max care was $1,300 didn't realize you could renew. I do have a blown subwoofer and the shop says they are not available anymore. seem that they would find other sources like Crutchfield to take care of the problem or maybe it doesn't work like that.

Ok... Here is the deal. My first max care warranty was around 1300. As the car got older the price to renew goes up. 3k is an ok price but I think I paid 2500 for mine. I am good for another 5 years. I can tell you that most people here that say it is a waste of money may not be driving their cars for than a few hundred miles a year. If you drive the crossfire everyday things will go wrong. And this car is not cheap to fix unless you do the labor yourself. I can tell you I got all my money back on repairs and then some. I can't even begin to tell you everything I had fixed and I am thankful I had the warranty.

My most recent problem is my airbag light. The module is bad and it is a 3k part. I guess I can try and save a few bucks with buying a Mercedes part for 300 dollars and do it myself. But do I want to risk having all my airbags deploy as I am trying to save a few bucks doing it myself? I would rather let the warranty pay the bill and have a professional do it.

So yes... I would buy the warranty. Our cars are not made by honda. They are German and complicated. They are expensive to fix if you want a professional to do it right. The first thing that breaks your warranty will pay for itself.

Ok... Here's the deal. The Crossfire is not a complicated machine and there are plenty of competent people who can work on your car. Many of them former Mercedes Techs. I've put more than 150,000 miles on Crossfires, almost 100,000 on just one of them. Granted I did all the work myself on my Crossfire the only major problem I had was an oil sending unit that was weeping oil onto my splash shield. I believe the part was $200 and what ever Steve paid for RTV compound. If you're not mechanically oriented and it's okay if your not don't pay the dealer to fix your car. Find an independent shop that centers it's work around European cars and you'll be fine. I personally wouldn't buy another warranty as I've not spent more than $500 on parts in all the years I've owned a Crossfire.

The Crossfire Shop may have a used subwoofer in stock. Almost all the common issues are easily rectified with help from the many stars on this form. My suggestion would be to save the money and not renew.

Agree it is probably wasted on a Crossfire. I have a lifetime service contract on my Jeep since many of the modules are over $1k & made sure it was from Chrysler and tied to the heep.

The XF OTOH is easier to work on but then since it had over 100k on it when purchased, the MaxLife was not available. Must admit that if a wrecked 6 speed coupe turns up I might just buy and stash. Would be less than the service contract.

Like I said, my air bag control module is a perfect example of my warranty paying for itself. Some people would say it is a waste of money. I am usually the type to agree. When it comes to the crossfire, I sleep better at night with my warranty.

You've had many many members tell you how to fix that cheaply. Are you telling me you still haven't used your warranty to get it fixed?

Read my previous thread. I said I would rather not take the cheap route and end up deploying all my airbags by accident to save a few bucks. I would rather let the professionals do it. And you are not a professional!

I may not be a professional, but I do know that an airbag will not deploy when the battery is disconnected. It's actually a safety standard. You didn't answer my question though. Have you had your airbag fixed under warranty yet or not?

We (she) decided to keep the car. Last warrenty was $1900 for 4 years. I know it covered $4000 in repairs. $3000 spread over 5 years isn't that bad.

That is what I am talking about. People here don't understand. 4k in repairs so you saved a couple thousand by buying a warranty.
