Default Shift **** removal for an automatic transmission

How do I remove the gearshift **** on my 2006 Chrysler Crossfire convertible. The shift **** has a bottom piece that unscrews. From that point on I don't know how to remove it. Please help. It has an automatic transmission.

After the base cap is loose, pull straight up on the ****. If this is the first time it has been removed, it will take a pretty good tug. To replace, push **** down until it bottoms, and turn the cap back onto the **** to lock. TBW

I too like a manual transmission. All of my collectible cars had manual transmissions; however, I recently had some medical problems and now I have to drive an automatic trans. Even though my Crossfire has an automatic trans, I still have a lot of fun driving the it. Getting old stinks!!!!
Have a nice day!
