AGM and gel batteries do contain liquid and as long as the internal valving doesn't malfunction the acid won't leave the battery in non intended ways.
AGM and Gell batteries are completely different The Exide Gell cells they take very fine silica and mix with the acid takes some time for it to gell and very little capacity used mostly I toys, re Champion they used the name and paid a royalty which was GNB which I worked for many years which made the AGM battery for forklifts which was all I would sell, then Exide bought GNB after I retired.

Johnson Controls is the parent company of Varta when I last checked.

The lighter the battery the less capacity the battery has, these lightweight batteries do not last too long, when it comes to lead acid batteries weight (lead) is everything.
We don't need no steenkin' lead-acid!

GNB auto batteries Used the Champion logo to market their auto batteries which were junk I had a chance to tour their auto battery mfg. plant about 3 miles from their whse. and GNG industrial battery stock and service where I worked out of the auto batteries I would get about 6 months before they died and bought Delco for my Toyota Celcia Gts. as Delco wasa customer of mine you could eat off the floor it was so clean, I retired 16 years ago.

Is there something I missed? What's your point?

True, but zero chance of acid leaks and 4-5 times the life according to the manufacturer. I will wait until the price drops as it will eventually.
