Default Pcm

So I had troubles with my 05, driving car would die, get shakey, rough idle, dies had to wait 20 minutes then it would start. Throw mass airflow code and tps codes. So I started to fix it. Cleaned throttle body checked for vacuum leaks. Worked for a few days, went back to being stupid again. So bought new throttle body and new mass airflow sensor. Did good for about a week. Throttle body is good now just mass airflow code. Then the car would start dieing on me half way to work. Would have to pull off the road and wait, and then take off again. Thought it was either the ignition switch or the RCM. Tried soldering the three terminals on the back of the RCM. Fixed nothing, so I bought a new RCM and new ignition switch. Worked great for 20 minutes. Check engine light came back on, still the damn mass airflow code p0102. So I took it to my buddy before I just drove it off a cliff, and had him test it at the dealership, mass airflow sensor its self is good cause it's new, tested all the cables, (voltage, resistance, ext). All passed except one test failed. And so it seems the PCM is bad. So he said what is causing this is the engine heating up is making the PCM get to hot witch is causing the car to fail. Apparently it happens to alot of vehicles. So if any one has a fix for this that is cheaper than paying 2 grand for a new PCM please for the love of God help me lmao. I've had a very very hard time. Has anyone else had this issue, and fixed it by wrapping it some how, or painting it with heat resistant paint. Or relocating it. Please help!

Yes, There is a fan in the box with the ECM. Check that first, but I'm willing to bet your problem is CPS Crank Position Sensor. That happen to me in 2005 shortly after I bought mine. Had not happen since and I have a lot of miles on mine. But if it is the ECM over heating, the fan has died in that box.

I doubt 20 minutes is long enough for the heat to soak into the module box.
If it is the CPS you have to buy a Bosch one, others do not seem to work at times because of a loose fitting plug.
What codes are set other than the one you mention?

Change both the cam position sensor and crank position sensor. Those are the only things I’ve seen making the car act like that. I have 430,000 miles on ‘05. Let me know what happens. I work with you to trace it down. I even have an ecu, skreem, and key. I two crossfires. On second thought check the air filter housing attachment to throttle body. If it’s slipping off the throttle body when you accelerate, you’re getting too much air and thus the MAF code. If that’s the case NEEDSWING CAI Will be your best bet to fix that. Any way let me know what you find.

That was his second from last post, his last one was a few days later. That was 2019, he is probably long gone.
