Default CTEK battery chargers

Gentlemen - Just want to give you a "heads up" about a problem that I'm experiencing with CTEK in case you run into a problem with yours. My battery charger, a model 3300 CTEK, quit switching over from charging mode to maintaining mode, and got extremely hot. This was on it's third or fourth use in about a year or year and a half. It was so hot you could not handle it with bare hands. It could easily have caused a fire, in my opinion. Anyway, I emailed CTEK in early February, using the email address shown on their website and got a response from them that "if I cared to send it in they would check it out, and that it was covered by a five year warranty". Well I did that and now I can't get any response from CTEK. I've written (email) several times, and called several times with the email address on their website. The emails come back as "undeliverable" and the phone calls go to an answering system (voice mail) and prompts "please leave a message and someone will return your call", which doesn't happen. I originally emailed them as quoted above and was instructed to return the unit. Now that email doesn't work.

I'm trying to find out what is going on with my warrantied charger but getting nowhere. Does anyone know if CTEK went out of business? I have a Post Office receipt that shows my unit was delivered and the date it was delivered. Do I go to the Post Office and file a complaint? I'm not sure what to do and seeking advice from anyone who has experienced this with this company or another similar situation with another company. I would strongly suggest that CTEK be avoided by all until we can find out if they are still in business. What good is a warranty if the company does not respond or is out of business!!!!! If you have any idea's or information, please let me know.

Thanks,

Jim Holian

pizzaguy - I'm saying that I tried the email address it comes back as "undeliverable" . I tried all the phone numbers and they went to a "voice mail" that said to leave a message and someone would get back to me. That has NOT happened.

Well, I finally got a call-back from CTEK. The gentleman on the phone said my charger was working fine (?) but that he was going to replace it with a newer model for my peace of mind. That's very nice of him! Had he just returned mine there would always be that lingering concern that it would not switch to "maintain" and would overheat. I'm very happy with the resolution CTEK has extended to me.

I have one of these and use it during the winter. I leave it on for two or three days a month, never all the time just in case it goes haywire, I see it switch back and forth between cycles, l put it on the concrete floor just in case in gets too hot.

I too have a Ctek charger. One time it gave me trouble, or so I thought. It wouldn't charge a battery (AGM). I took the battery back to where I purchased it and they charged it for me. It seems the Ctek can't always charge a battery that's completely discharged. (Xfire Amp problem did it) I've used the Ctek since without issue.
